What is the C.R. of the stock LS6?

Tried a search but couldn't find an answer to this simple question. Reason I'm asking is a bud is thinking about supercharging his LS6 T/A. BTW, he says the factory ran out of LS1's at some point in '02 and his T/A was one of few that got the LS6, anyone else heard of this?

To answer your first question, Google is your friend. (http://www.corvettemuseum.com/specs/2002/ls6.shtml)

As for your friend getting an LS6 in his f-body, he's half right. He may have been one of the fortunate ones who managed to get an LS6 block. But, the heads, cam and other internals are still LS1 parts.

He said at first he didn't believe it himself, but he ran a 8.3 in the 8th totally stock (M6!). I should have asked him the mph, as that's more significant when estimating HP.

So there's no way he has the heads and cam?

Anyone know the C.R. ?

Well, an 8.3 in the 1/8 mi. is right in line with a 13.0~13.1 second pass in the 1/4. Assuming he's a decent driver, there's no way he has the 405hp LS6. I believe the record for a stock f-body is somewhere around a 12.8 sec. 1/4 mi. pass.

Hmmm, you're right ...now that I look at the 1.58 conversion factor for the 1/4. He has some bolt ons that have put him down to 8.1. Sorry, I just hadn't done any math on it yet but you're right ...I guess an 8.3 isn't so uncommon for a stock LS1. It seems he has a pretty strong example though.

The LS6 is 10.5:1, and the LS1 is around 10.1 or 10.2 (I've read both numbers on different spec charts). Ideally, a motor should be in the ~8 or 8.5 range to get the most potential out of supercharging or turbocharging, but lots of guys still bolt blowers onto LSx engines, just don't run too much boost!!:D
