If a tracks elevation is 320 ft. is that sufficient? Just curious because I'm comparing what I ran before to now with different elevations.

Track elevation?blind527 09-07-2005, 02:40 AM If a tracks elevation is 320 ft. is that sufficient? Just curious because I'm comparing what I ran before to now with different elevations. Stephen 87 IROC 09-07-2005, 08:59 AM Sufficient compared to what? Technically, that can still be considered sea level elevation. Track elevation doesn't mean much. Taking into account the elevation, temperature, barometric pressuse and humidity you get a density altitude. You can easily have a lower density altitude at a higher elevation track in good weather than you can have at a lower elevation track in poor weather. A hot sunny day isn't considered good weather. blind527 09-07-2005, 01:46 PM Sufficient compared to about 1200 feet. It was about 1200 feet at the track I went to last time at about 90* and high humidity. This Friday, it's supposed to be a night race, will only be about 65-75* with low humidity at 320 ft. elevation. Injuneer 09-07-2005, 03:39 PM If nothing changed except the altitude, you'd run about 0.15-seconds quicker at the lower altitude. But as Stephen points out, you need to consider the affects of temperature, absolute humidity and barometer as well. | ||
