Can I get 16 inch Torq Thrust IIs?
Can I get 16 inch Torq Thrust IIs?
Sears called American Racing for me today, and claimed they can get a 16" TT2. I have a part # and everything. When I went to Sears about a year and a half ago, they called AR and AR claimed I could NOT get a 16" TT2. I went on AR's website earlier, and the site doesn't list a 16" TT2 for my car.
I'm lost...can anyone help? And before I get people asking why the hell I want a 16" when 17s are what everyone does, its because I bought 4 brand new takeoff GSCs from SLP 4 years ago, and plan to use them...I just mounted them on my OEM wheels a month or two ago. Thanks to anyone who can help...I'm totally stumped here.

Yes you can get 16" TT2's just go to discount tire.
and IMHO I wouldn't let tires influence my choice in wheels. You are gonna buy these, end up wanting bigger wheels later and losing money when you sell those 16's. It'd be easier to get new bigger wheels and tires and selling the old tires and wheels inless you want to keep the old wheels. That's just what I'm thinking anyway.

Re: Can I get 16 inch Torq Thrust IIs?
I'm going to own this car for the rest of my life
I'm on 5 years and counting. I'll check out discount tire, but in all honesty I don't WANT a larger wheel. Some of the roads here in New England are nothing but potholed, rutted messes. Putting on a 17 means I need to go to a 245/45...I'm not willing to sacrifice ride quality or risk bending a rim. I have 225/55/17s on my '01 Grand Prix GT with AR wheels, and believe me a 55 series on some of these roads is bad enough, even in a Grand Prix. F bodies are a little stiffer riding than those
Thanks for the tip...I'll have a look there.

Re: Can I get 16 inch Torq Thrust IIs?
Just checked out Discount Tire...they don't list any American Racing wheels in either 16" or 17"...ARGH. Anyone else have any insight? Thanks...
EDIT: Just checked out American Racing's website...they have a listing for "93+ Camaro and Firebird" for the 17x9.5s. Shows a 46mm offset and a 5-4 3/4 bolt circle. When I look at the 16s they offer, none are anywhere near a 46mm offset, but a couple part #s do show the correct bolt pattern. Because the part # on the Sears printout is a generic Sears #, there's no way to know which wheel they actually quoted me on. I'll call American Racing myself tomorrow, but man...this sucks.

Yes you can get a 16" TT2.
But why are you are going to waste your money on them? They're not a whole lot cheaper than the 17, but they will look it. Everyone can see they're 16s from a mile away. Even though you have the tires, you'd still be better off getting the 17" TT2 now and just getting it over with.

Re: Can I get 16 inch Torq Thrust IIs?
Like I said, with all due respect, I don't need a bunch of people telling me to get 17s. What I WANT is for someone to tell me WHERE to get them. I already explained why I don't want/need 17s. I drive this car 3k miles per year...these tires will still be on the car 10 years from now. Maybe in 10 years I'll have the cash to buy 17s and matching tires, and maybe I'll live in an area where they won't rattle my teeth. But right now, I don't have $1,500+ to drop on 17" TT2s and cheap tires (wheels are $850 on eBay + $75 shipping, cheapest tires are $110 each, then you need to mount them, get the mounting kit, etc...) and they will make the car ride harder than I want anyway. Come drive in New England for a few weeks...maybe you'll understand.
Not trying to be snotty, just trying to find the damn wheels. Because right now, its apparent to me no such animal exists, even according to American Racing's own website.

Re: Can I get 16 inch Torq Thrust IIs?
At 3k per year, wanna bet??
I know for a fact GSCs with proper care, if you don't burn out with them, will last 30k...my friend's TA has proven that.
Enough with the unrelated crap guys, please...I'm on a mission here
Part #s for 16s, anyone? Help!

Re: Can I get 16 inch Torq Thrust IIs?
You guys are phenomenal comedians, but absolutely zero help.
kickztailout,
Do you see the listings for the 17x9 and 17x11 wheels that say for "93+ Camaro"?? See the backspacing? Yeah, one is like 46, and the other is 48. Now, show me a 16x8 on there that has ANYTHING REMOTELY SIMILAR FOR BACKSPACING.
lookingforwheels,
Give it a rest. Please.
You two are awesome. Zero help, and flaming a fellow member who merely wants to buy some wheels he deems perfect for his car, even if you two clowns don't. Nice work
I tried being nice, I explained what I'm looking for, said I didn't need anyone's derogatory comments, so give it a rest. Please?
