78 malibu?axehead 08-25-2005, 12:58 PM what makes a great chevy drag car? anyone tried a malibu? we'll be using a small block at first & later on a blown big block. what can you guys tell me? Stephen 87 IROC 08-25-2005, 09:34 PM Just another G-body. Lots of G-body race cars. AdioSS 08-25-2005, 09:37 PM check out the red 'bu at samracing.com ;) It's gone 8s NA. axehead 08-28-2005, 08:35 PM anyone else mourningyou 09-03-2005, 05:22 PM a little bit different than a 78, but i'll tell you that working on my brother's 85 monte carlo is about a million, billion times easier than working on a 4th gen. If we had jacked the engine up a little bit more, the headers would have fallen into the engine bay. the good thing is they make everything for g-bodies. dual exhaust crossmembers, hvac delete panel for the engine bay, upper/lower control arms, etc etc etc. if anyone destroys the camaro it'll be a 383 MC for me :P Jameslt1TA 09-03-2005, 10:16 PM I would buy one now cause they are still cheaper sort-of-muscle cars and they dont weight that much especially with fiberglass panels and such. and like said above are very roomie in the engine compartment. mourningyou 09-04-2005, 12:16 AM they can be had for great prices. we paid 800 for the mc with a busted steering column. find a posi, find a 350 block, get to work :P 1FASASZ 09-04-2005, 11:14 PM 66 nova  axehead 09-05-2005, 12:51 PM what do the novas, early camaros, & monte carlos weigh? would a vega be faster because it is lighter or are there other factors that are more important than weight? TankII 09-08-2005, 04:40 PM I used to autocross a '78 Cutlass Cruiser Wagon (Malibu sized, not the full-size) 350 Olds with heads, cam, 10.25:1 compression, headers, etc, 2600 stall/350, 2:56 gears, 4-wheel disks, 1 5/16" front sway bar, 3/4 rear, lower springs, A/C, Cruise, power windows and locks, roof-rack, frame hitch, CB-antenna, and wood-grained sides. I always beat the SS Vettes, and came close to beating the SS 911's. I had to run in EM due to the Cavalier buckets (What a stupid rule!) I kept it in first the whole time because I could get 70 out of first at 6500 RPM... Of course, I was laughed at until I made my first run! :-) TankII | ||
