SnakeSkinner28 08-22-2005, 10:41 AM On my way back from work ran into a Cobra convertable, we went back and forth a bit on the highway before getting off and finally got a stop light. From a dead stop up to 90 i had him by probably 2 cars. He had full exhaust, intake, gears, and something else but i couldnt hear what he said. Incase anyone reads too fast and overlooks the fact this is an 01 Cobra with no blower and not an 03, thats how i beat him so badly. What should a Cobra with those mods run in the 1/4?

Even still the 01 Cobras are quick with the DOHC 32 valve

Not that quick. More like your average LT1 Quick. At least from what Ive seen.

They're LS1 quick, there were two new ones in running mid-13s the last time I was at the track, which is an LS1 time.

They're LS1 quick, there were two new ones in running mid-13s the last time I was at the track, which is an LS1 time.
I have yet to see them LS1 quick at the track yet. Mostly very high 13 to low 14 ranges.

redneck01 08-27-2005, 12:25 PM Ive raced 2 '05 gts, one man, and one auto...the manuals are quick, i pulled a few cars on one, and like 4-5 cars on the auto. They are quick, but have a powerband between ls1 and lt1...good midrange, but less low and high. I saw a new white roush, and the guy said it should run 12.9-13.10's.

I think you rright with the looks package. I know it has the exhaust upgrade I believe. Not sure what they run though. The guy who i knows own one, thinks he can eat me up. Id be very shocked if he could, but don tknwo for sure.

redzsmoked212 08-28-2005, 09:00 AM ive raced a black 05 gt manual and they shocked the hell out of me by how quick it was, we ran the 1/4 and i put about 4-5 cars on him but i also lt's and suspension mods. the manuals shouldnt be underestimated at all.
Antz97ZNJ 08-28-2005, 07:46 PM W/ those mods and taking the vert into consideration he was probably somewhere in the higher 12's...Those cobras w/ the right driver really only need tires and gears to hit 12's...Stock w/ the vert hes a mid to higher 13 second car

They are not LS1 quick. I seen an 05 run 13.7@101 MPH vs the average 105+ LS1 trap speeds. Thats the fastest I have seen so far. It pulled a fantastic 60 to pull it off,on street tires.
LS1's have 30-50 more hp realisticly and weigh close to the same. Not to mention LS1's have 6 speed's VS 5 speeds.
Not trying to take anything away from the new pony. "Its gonna be my next major auto purchase"

The last time I was at the track, there were two brand new ones in the staging lanes next to me and I was talking to one guy. He showed me his timeslip and it was 13.5@10x with a 2.1 60' and his odometer had 600-something miles on it. The car was BRAND NEW. Unless of course he stole that timeslip from someone else at the track.
The time in my sig. is with a 2.0 60' and street tires, so I know what I'm doing. I also have about 15 RWHP in mods. Maybe my LS1 is a dud...

The previous GT was not LT1 quick :lol: . My LT1 is nothing special and I can destroy the old GT's all day long. My friends 2000 S10 (stock vortech V6) can run with the the old GT's.

I raced an auto gt in my m6 lt1 with just exhaust and ram air and beat him by about 1/4 car i think we went up to about 70 neither of us were making any ground by that point tho
