Camaro213.4 08-22-2005, 12:17 AM what's the best exhaust available for the 3.4l camaro?
i am looking for a quiet exhaust, you know, a "rice free" sound above 3k RPM!
can i have the dual exhaust without the ricey sound in any way?

beeker82 08-22-2005, 01:06 AM listen to my sound clip and see if that sounds ricey or not

Nope.
Only way I can think of is to keep it stock. You COULD find a stock dual out exhaust (I think later RS models), chop the stock tailpipes off and then weld whatever ones you want on.
MarcR94v6 08-22-2005, 02:02 PM stock muffler/z28 catback
A stock z28 catback, like a takeoff z28 exhaust? Or an aftermarket one?
Tru2Chevy 08-22-2005, 03:01 PM Get any standard aftermarket exhaust, and stick a bullet muffler in it :)

blown94 08-22-2005, 11:22 PM get the SLP dual off a camaro or TA V8
i put a flowmaster on yesterday and guess what... too loud for my tastes...i'm thinking of maybe adding a resonator in front of the muffler or looking for a quiter muffler that will drop in
Joe 1320 08-31-2005, 06:42 PM Find a borla rear section. Best sound for a V6 out there. I had a 3.4 with the stock Z28 catback added on, but after hearing the borla..... it wins. Not as raspy and tinny sounding.
Camabird 08-31-2005, 08:40 PM 2.5" flowmaster exhaust has the best sound for 3.4L and 3.8L (better on the 3.4 though). http://video.ls1tech.com/Player.aspx?fileid=8E16D909-7766-41B1-BC2A-EBCCB9111EDD&term=3.4&p=0

I have to say I disagree..... the flowmasters are not known for a mellow sound, it is raspy as the rpms climb. But I guess if that's what people want then so be it.
new camaro owner 09-01-2005, 04:46 PM wow....what flowmaster muffler is that specifically....i want my 3.4 to sound exactly like that....i was going to go with the flow master american thunder...is that it?
MarcR94v6 09-01-2005, 05:51 PM I emailed the owner of the car a while ago, he says it is simply stock piping into a 2.5" in/out flowmaster 80 muffler. It's not a catback.

Suprisingly that didn't sound to bad. I have to admit it was funny to see a video like that with the burning out with his v6.
Mr. Merk 09-20-2005, 02:58 AM we used a dynomax dual outlet camaro muffler (~$50) on my girl's 3.4, sounds great (first few days it was raspy, but it broke in) with the rectangular tips it really improved the sound (SS but half as loud), only problem is you can use Z28 tips because they are only 2.25 and the muffler's outlets are 2.5"
but it really does sound good, isnt terribly loud inside, sounds twice as good hearing it from another car driving beside her, a couple of SS and Z28 guys asked to race her thinking it was a Z28
BlueV6 10-06-2005, 12:48 AM i just got dual tips installed from midas a few years back, it's nice and quiet and isnt too raspy
then again, I have a 3.8, so I dont know if i am helping any
gauntlet009 10-06-2005, 09:50 AM z28 takeoffs sound pretty good on the v6's aswell
