I have a 95Z with the T56 six speed. The car is up on all fours right now. I am hearing a rattle from the tranny. The sound goes away when the clutch pedal is pressed in. This is the first time I heard this, but that doesnt mean it just happened either. It shifts fine most of the time, other times it is a little sticky, pump the clutch and sticky is gone. What do you guys think the rattle sound is? She has 118k right now and I don't have a history on last clutch etc.. I thought about just changing the clutch so I will have a new one, which leads to more questions. How hard is to do on four jack stands and a jack, second question, what kind of clutch is good? I don't go to the track, I don't think I pulling more than 300hp at the wheels, I like to jump on it thru town and on the highway. Any suggestions (besides don't speed, it's against the law LOL) Thanks for the help.

I have the same thing, I think it might be my throwout bearing, but I'm not sure. I'm about to put in a new clutch, but I'm not sure if I should spend the $$ on the throw-out bearing if thats not it...

mine does it too. im sitting at idle and i take it outta gear, then let go of the clutch pedal. it sounds like a rod knock or something right?
well my mechanic friend told me its my throw-out bearing. ive been thinking about getting a new clutch to fix it, but its cheaper to get just the throw out bearing and see what happens after that.
oh and as far as difficulty...on jack stands about 1-2 feet off the ground...good luck.

Usually a 56 will have some noise. The way the gears are cut, and, the design. I have the same noise. Usually the noise will go away when a load is applied. During the time of load to no-load, you hear some gear noise. Typical of B_warner t56. Not much you can do.
