wingnut 08-21-2005, 12:04 AM See my sig for some updated pics. TB91 large frame with 1.14 ar. Still tunning and fixing odd problems...will get better pics out later. Does not spool up as fast as the t88, but but does pull hard under boost.

ss#1230 08-21-2005, 12:20 AM thats the biggest turbo ive ever seen on a LT1 or LS1 by far! it a friggin monster!
i wish i had a LT1 that could take that kinda punishment!!!!!!
oh, btw, where is your radiator? doesnt look like you have room for one.
breakmyfootoff 08-21-2005, 02:34 AM Holy Sh*t!
97WS6SCharged 08-21-2005, 02:50 AM The radiator looks to be sitting in front of the core support. :)
BTW, you're one sick puppy. I love it. ;) :D
MEAN LT1 08-21-2005, 08:35 AM Thats a big flipin Turbo. Holy Shizzle
bad93z 08-21-2005, 09:00 AM Nice setup
are those truck headers you used? I only ask because they look ALOT like the headers on my 88 fullsize

Good Eye..I had some blazer v-8 headers made out of stainless and then welded some stainless 3" v flanges on them, put them on backwards and bam! Headers I can take off and on in 10 minutes with out even removing the dip-stick.
Car has good street manors and is a little slow on spool up (needs more rpm,s). But at thirty PSI WOW!!! I will get some dyno numbers this week if i get things fixed.
P.S. the radiator is sitting in front of the the factory core support with a pusher fan.
bad93z 08-21-2005, 09:21 PM You may have just made my turbo setup fabrication easier :D
If you don't mind my asking, where'd you get the v-clamps?

30 psi through that turbo?  That's moving alot of air... what kind of numbers are you predicting?
96PTKZ28 08-22-2005, 03:29 PM Sweet turbo. Im just wondering how bad the lag will be. Is this the first attempt at this large frame?? Probably wouldnt be the most street friendly beast, but on the other hand right at home on the 1/4 mile!

I love you...
Whats the spec on the turbos? Maybe i didnt catch it, ill look again.

Burns stainless has some good stainless v-clamp sets and so does www.turboneticsinc.com
If my converter was not so loose, lag would be unbarable. However, with a 4000 rpm stall, you get off of the line and watch the bike go ahead of you for about a sec then everything gets blury and you just hang on. A little soft on takeoff. I thought about using NOS and have my DFI 7 turn it on until positive map pressure is present then all turbo after that.
I changed and went with a tb-91 big frame turbo and now have the 1.00 a/r turbine housing. I am going to order a .96 and try that too - housings are cheep!
I am looking for about 1000RWHP on race gas. Past that I will be happy.

96PTKZ28 08-22-2005, 07:58 PM How did the T-88 compare to this 91 you have now. I have seen one guy put down 1012RWHP with a PTK kit on a 355 LT-1 and ran 9's. I opted for the 76GTS and have been told that I should expect about 900+. I will also be utilzing a snow meth kit and liquid 2 air intercooler. The a/r on the 76 is 96. Should have no lag problems with that. I was going to go with the 88 but I don't like the idea of more lag. But there is no denying big turbos look COOL!

The 91 I have now is a true 91mm while the t-88 i had before was an outlaw t-76 moded to t-88 wheel (small frame turbo). I can say I have lots more lag, but a positive man to intake pressure ratio up to 28 to 32 psi. That in itself is worth a lot. As for street fun, the t-88 was more fun as I did not have to down shift out of 3rd for boost at low speed. Now I have to have the rps's up. I do not however, want a dyno queen, that is why I am going to buy another turbine housing if the lag is to much at the track.
I guess I could always be like the supra guys and want to race from a roll :D
It feels good from a takeoff, it just does not pull the wheels without the trans break. I always foot launch anyways.
I will do some tunning and I bet I can remove some of that lag without NOS.

5.0THIS 08-23-2005, 12:01 AM How much has your boost threshhold changed, if any?

are the heders you have a regular production piece? if so do you have the part number for them. if not can you point me in the right direction.
thanks
slowman 08-23-2005, 12:38 AM That's very impressive
wingnut 08-23-2005, 12:16 PM How much has your boost threshhold changed, if any?
More by RPM now, about 1800 RPM and I must keep them above 5000 after shift to stay in boost. However, now that there is little to no exhaust restriction, 7500rpm comes up real quick after boost and holds great power unlike with the old system.

That's exactly what I did when I built my kit a couple years ago. I used a set of off-the-shelf headers for a C/K full-size, turned them around backwards, and cut and welded closed the A.I.R. pump tube. They fit perfect.

SMOKNZ 08-26-2005, 10:14 AM Wingnut,
Where is the wastegate in your setup, didn't see any. What size did you use with this setup? Also looking at Precision's website they have a .92 A/R exhaust housing for their PT91 turbo. I wasn't sure what turbo you were running. Awesome setup! Did you relocate the alt down to the drivers side, and I assume you have a manual rack now, huh?

Wastegate is an HKS 60MM mounted under the turbo feeding into the downpipe.
The turbo is a PT91 copy using a garrett ballbearing center, but with an aireasearch compressor housing (7" inlet, 3 1/2" outlet), Garrett turbine housing with a 5" down pipe and 1.00 a/r using a big frame t100 inlet.
Alt is located on dr lower and p/s is manual. Will switch to manual breaks this winter.
I am using a turbonetics godzilla bov and the radiator is a mustang 16" high X 27" tall, duel 1" core alum mounted in front of factory suppory with 16" pucher fan. Intercooler is procharger racing mover 5" forward. It is now right behind the factory fog lap openings.

Rodrigues 08-28-2005, 03:01 AM Im still amazed how similar your turbo setup is to mine, I have that identical AirResearch 91mm compressor with the 101mm turbine section on the 1.00 A/R. What sort of cam are you running? Just finished making the passenger side header today... hopefully dyno numbers soon, also I opted for a 5800 stall neal chance, whats yours flashing at???
