Can I.......JB_96RS 08-17-2005, 08:08 PM I was wondering if i could run my engine without the serpintine belt on. Strange noise coming from under the hood that I am trying to track down. TY 99blackSS 08-17-2005, 08:20 PM Im pretty sure you can briefly. Some people do it for track runs. MarcR94v6 08-17-2005, 08:23 PM I was gonna say, yes, but don't drive with it off. But if people use take it off for track runs.... Need4Camaro 08-17-2005, 09:57 PM Can I....... NO!!!! AND DON'T ASK ANYTHING LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!! ;) :D ianwells100 08-18-2005, 02:18 AM of course you can, BUT.. u wont have an alternator, power steering, a water pump, etc... so, ur car will die of lack of power, wont turn easily and will overheat if left running for 5 mins... so, yes, do it for 1 minute or so, to diagnose, but not any further... this is how eric (mustangeater) got such low 1/4 mile times with $0 of mods, as it lowers rotating mass on the engine, thus frees up HP MustangEater82 08-18-2005, 03:49 AM yep you can... also put me from a 14.7(best of a 14.6) to a 14.4 :) but like said it will overeat. you have a noisey pulley? Me too I had a horrid ticking under the hood, I pulled the belt it stopped, so I sprayed the back off all the pulleys with a litthe white lithium grease, and stopped ever since. | ||
