So a buddy of mine works up at the local honda dealership and knows a guy who had just recently bought a 2000 NBM Z28 A4, had some different 17" chrome wheels, 275s all the way around, really a sweet looking car! Has the factory ground effects package, I mean it looks sweet :thumb: He had it for about a week or two and installed Hooker LT's, and a loudmouth exhaust with an off-road Y-pipe. He had gotten to be really really arrogant about his car lately, and Danny (my buddy) was getting real tired of hearing about it at work. So me and my buddy are hanging out, and decide to call him one night and we meet up to run. My mods are in the sig.

So its me and danny in my car, Gunz (owner of the Z) and his girl in his car and we ran 4 imes. Before all this me and danny went down the road with his whistler radar detector and scanned the street before we went to run.

First run, we catch a red light. I hear him trying to stall it up, I hold my RPMs at about 27-29k range, light turns green and we're both off. He says his car won't turn the tires for a split second and he's got traction instantly. I have minimal wheelspin and bit hard! As soon as I got traction in 1st, we went from dead even to me pulling good. I hit 2nd and walked him hard! Went for 3rd and missed it! Wouldn't go in any gear. So we pull over down the road and he says he shifted into 2nd at 2500RPMs (no trans work at all, so wouldn't it hold out 1st anyways?? )

Second run, we stop in the middle of the road (its late at night, next to no traffic), 3 honks and we're off, it's on a slight incline and I'm spinning my ass off getting on and off of it, trying to get hopes. I bite in 1st with my front bumper being at the back of his door, and pulled almost right back even with him, going into 2nd. Going into 3rd had almost a whole car between us, then I went into 5th and by the time I put it in 3rd and get back in it, He's pulling up to me and passing me. We catch the next red light and he tries saying "I got you! I got you!" So we catch another light

Third run, He's trying to stall it up, I'm at about 24-2500, light turns green, I slip it out, little bit of spinning, and it was almost like the very 1st run! As soon as I bit, I'm pulling away, hit 2nd, put about 1-2 cars between us, went for 3rd and hit 5th AGAIN! I wasn't even going to try to go back to 3rd and explain myself again, so I hit the brakes. He flies past me and hits the hazards. We roll up to fas-mart and I immediately start explaining "After I stopped spinning, did you see my constant pull or what??" and he just kept saying "Let's go faster! Let's take it higher!" Whatever, we don't need to be running triple digits on a state road anyways.

The 4th run we tried doing a 25mph roll with 3 honks, he jumps me on the second honk, and then later explains "I'm not used to the honk thing" I think it was just cause his girl was in the car and he knew the outcome so he jumped me. I sat there like a lame duck when he jumped me, cause I wasn't guna play that game. We line up at the next light and saw the same cop we had seen twice on that road earlier that night and our radar wasn't picking him up. Musta been scanning the streets so we called it a night and headed home. He tells Danny the next day "I know I got beat, he was pulling, I'm done with that race". Ah well, put a cocky LS1 owner in his place atleast! :D

Also, to let you guys know, before you start asking, every time we ran he had his ASR off with no wheelspin. I'm guessing its a 2.73 geared A4 LS1, but we don't know because his sticker is half ripped and wont show the GU3 or 4 and so on code.

Doesn't it have 2.73s if you cant select first gear?

Yes, if you can select first gear then you have the "performance axle" option and the 3.23s.

Man, sounds like you need some work driving that thing :) Sounds like you had fun

If you're hitting 5th in your M6 instead of 3rd, stop pushing to the right when you shift.

When you're over 20mph, first will be gated off. Push straight forward from 2nd. Push fast, but don't push hard. It'll pop right into third.

On your 4-5 shift, you'll need to push to the right a little, but not much.

Practice! Sit there with the car parked and just run through the gears. When you're driving, do quick shifts even if you're not driving fast. Remember: you don't need to muscle it! It's designed to go through the gears in order very naturally.
