I have a 1999 Red Camaro that I just bought. The paint job is pretty nice, but I want black (w/ white racing stripes or maybe ghost flames). What does a decent paint job cost and how do I find a good, reliable place to do it?

i dunno about all that stuff or how prices are down there, but just for a ballpark for ya a BASE paint job at a good reputable shop around here starts at $3500... same shop that told me that offered to re-paint all the black parts on my car for just over $300 :p (roof mirrors headlight buckets and grille) i just thought that was funny at the time... it was only funy cause about 2 weeks before that they charged me $250 for JUST the front bumper... =/ ive noticed price for paint depends more on the mood of who you're dealing with lol far as i know theres no real golden standard... but "most" shops around here start at 3500 for the whole car, theres a few solo guys that will do it for a lot less but thats just cause they want to get there name out... ah well, good luck with that. and i hope this helps ya a little bit.

$3500 for a basic paint job seems a little high but custom is always expensive and changing the color on top of that is even more. My suggestion (unless you have money just to blow) leave it red and do your custom work on that. If you wanted a black car you should have bought one. It will cost you less to sell yours and buy a black one than for the difference of painting it another color.

I was gonna start a new thread, but maybe I can get it answered in here, if it's ok with the thread starter, I actually want to get just my left fender painted and touch up a scuff in my front end (section with the camaro emblem)....how much might that be?

go to any car show and ask around. Any good paint work won't be cheap. the cost of paint today is very high. but it's worth it!

the problem with repainting your fender and a scuff on the front end is the paint will need to fade into the panel next to it. You will end up painting the front end, hood, and door. Around here, I would charge $700-$800 for that.
