White faced gauges?crazydavez28 08-15-2005, 09:39 PM Does anybody know of a place where i could get a set of white faced gauges for my 94 Z ? Can it be done? Please respond all comments welcome Z95m6 08-15-2005, 09:56 PM Ebay has them. I got a set off of there for $35 shipped. They were the reverse glow kind and lit up blue. I loved them but i got rid of them when i got my TA dash. I would of gotten a set for my TA dash but they only have ones that light up blue, and that would of looked bad with the red lights of my TA interior. I believe i have some pics on the 4th page of my sig. chuckd4more 08-16-2005, 07:36 PM Wrong forum, should be appearence but, I see em all the time on ebay as well. Not very costly at all crazydavez28 08-16-2005, 09:00 PM Ebay has them. I got a set off of there for $35 shipped. They were the reverse glow kind and lit up blue. I noticed you live in Newton, I live in Inman if you still have them I would be interested in looking at them Call @ 620-585-2294 m95 08-17-2005, 07:01 AM what's the level of effort to install one of those in a 93-95? Z95m6 08-17-2005, 12:16 PM I noticed you live in Newton, I live in Inman if you still have them I would be interested in looking at them Call @ 620-585-2294 No i'm sorry i don't have the white faced gauges anymore. I swapped in a Trans am dash and sold my old camaro cluster on Ebay. If you look at the gauges off ebay they are completely white around the SES light area and the odometer area. If you look at the pics on my site mine are black in this area. You have to cut out the SES light area and the odometer area off your old black cluster and put them on top of the new gauge overlays. Keliente@pcmforless 08-17-2005, 12:32 PM The ones on eBay are usually pretty tacky. I got mine at http://dynoproauto.com/gauges1024.htm they offer all years of camaro/firebird. The link you posted didn't even show any 93-96 Camaro cluster. Those just look like Macewen gauge overlays with decals on them, and those aren't that great either. They may not have shown a pic but they carry them, I know because we have gauges for a '93 formula from them...the difference between these gauges and MacEwen is that you actually get these within a reasonable amount of time, not months. Customer service was great too. Those are not decals on the gauges, it is part of the gauge overlay itself. I don't know about the quality of the eBay gauges but I don't like the look of them at all, I saw your pix. I like Dyno Pro's because it is almost verbatim to a stock gauge, with the colors reversed. To each their own though... crazydavez28 08-17-2005, 12:59 PM Can you tell me exactly where you got them on ebay? Store? Also i need to upgrade to the 150 speedo any surprises that i need to be aware of before i make a commitment on the swap Z95m6 08-17-2005, 01:39 PM They may not have shown a pic but they carry them, I know because we have gauges for a '93 formula from them...the difference between these gauges and MacEwen is that you actually get these within a reasonable amount of time, not months. To each their own though... The Ebays aren't bad for the money. A 93 Formula is different than a 93-96 Camaro, which i said earlier. 93-02 Firebirds/TA's have pretty much the same cluster, and its very similar to the 97+ Camaro, all of which is very different from the 93-96 Camaro. Also i need to upgrade to the 150 speedo any surprises that i need to be aware of before i make a commitment on the swap I believe you just get a 150mph speedo and plug them in. You will still want to get your car reprogrammed so you don't have that 110mph speedo. I'll try to find you a link. I can't really find any of the reverse glow ones for 150 mph that i got. GT KILLER 08-17-2005, 04:21 PM The ones on eBay are usually pretty tacky. That's exactly what I want right there. What's the deal on installation? Is it entirely possible to do it myself or would that be stupid to attempt for a guy that doesn't really know much about doing stuff like that? kick Z tail out 08-17-2005, 05:21 PM The ones on eBay are usually pretty tacky. Most of them are made by APC and other similar rice boy companies, so they don't look right, and have that typical 'bottom shelf at Pep-Boys' look to them. Those look good. But on the site it says NO REMOVAL OF GAUGE NEEDLES NEEDED FOR INSTALL  How do they figure? kick Z tail out 08-17-2005, 05:26 PM http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-94-95-96-chevy-camaro-white-face-gauges-93-96_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43952QQitemZ79926959 94QQrdZ1 Those don't look bad, but they aren't reverse glow, i guess it depends on what you want. I can't really find any of the reverse glow ones for 150 mph that i got. BTW those look decent. Like keliente said, the tastefully done ones are going to look exactly like the stock instruments, just reversed color. Z95m6 08-17-2005, 05:41 PM BTW those look decent. Like keliente said, the tastefully done ones are going to look exactly like the stock instruments, just reversed color. There was a post in the appearance forum and quite a few guys are running the ebay ones and like them. I guess you guys are just in the minority. I have a set of high dollar Macewen ones now and in my opinion they really aren't any better than the ebay ones. The only reason i didn't go with the ebay ones again is that they don't have 150 mph ones for a TA that light up Red. Keliente@pcmforless 08-17-2005, 06:25 PM Installation is very simple and removing the needles was unnecessary. I have an 00 Z28 - this is how my install went... 1. I put my steering wheel all the way in the down position, and unscrewed the tilt lever (just gives you more room) 2. That plastic trim piece around the gauge just pops out, if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure I didn't have to unscrew that lower trim panel to get to it...but I did this a long time ago so I may be wrong... 3. In my car, the gauge cluster was held in by ~4 screws...took those out and pulled the cluster straight towards me to disconnect it 4. It was much easier to seperate the plastic from the gauges itself, and remove it in two pieces. If you try and leave it together, it seems impossible to wrestle it out of that small space...they are held together with plastic tabs. When I took them apart, the plastic piece slid out, then the gauge cluster itself comes out easy. 5. Get yourself a nice table with a bright light over it...clean the gauge cluster very well and let it dry fully. Then I gently pushed the needles to the straight-up position...remove the plastic from the back of the gauge face, slide it over the needle onto the gauge (you can bend these). Try and hold it right above the gauge while you line up the numbers. It won't adhere fully until you really press down on it, so take your time lining it up right...when satisfied, press down & smooth out the surface. I removed the little pin that keeps the needle from falling below 0 on the spedometer...included in the price of my gauges was a trans am bezel, which the needle would then rest on. 6. from there, the small gauges go on easy. 7. Reinstall in the car the same way...put the cluster in first, then snap the plastic bezel over it, tighten the four screws, reattach the trim piece and you're on your way... crazydavez28 08-17-2005, 08:47 PM thanks guys for all the advice! one more question, can i just re-program my 110 speedo to make it a 150? it sounds like a shot in the dark but i want to know if it's possible I like the way the ones on ebay look has anybody switched to the led lights? how do they compare to bulbs? Z95m6 08-17-2005, 09:21 PM I have LEDs in my TA dash, because the Normal TA dash lights up more of a orangish red so i put red LEDs in mine so now my dash lights up a blood red. I love it. I believe you can just plug in the 150mph speedometer in place of the 110 but your factory speed limiter will still be in place. crazydavez28 08-17-2005, 09:28 PM Anybody have a good 150 speedo for a 94 Z yeah if my car has a speed limiter i haven't found it yet random thought: they should make a 200 mph speedo they would sell Z95m6 08-17-2005, 09:49 PM Anybody have a good 150 speedo for a 94 Z yeah if my car has a speed limiter i haven't found it yet random thought: they should make a 200 mph speedo they would sell They do for 97+ Camaros and i believe 93+ birds. Keliente@pcmforless 08-18-2005, 01:05 AM has anybody switched to the led lights? how do they compare to bulbs? I went with blue LEDs. I did my gauges, headlight knob assembly, and HVAC to match my headunit.
