Okay all you gurus aout there in v6 land....i want to throw a set of headers and a catback on my 3.4L. I've only found 2 manufacturers so far , pace setter and RK sports. RK has a crappy reputation from what i've read so that leaves Pacesetter. If anybody has put these on their 34 or 3800, i have a question. How do you handle the EGR valve issue with these things?

Thanks much in an advance,

mike

I have pace setters, no complaints. What EGR issue are you talking about? my headers had a fitting for it, and everything connected fine.

dito, I have a set of pacesetter headers sitting in my room for my 94 3.4 camaro waiting to be installed. It came with everything that I need except for the bolts that attach the headers to the head, I don't want to resue the old ones so I'm gonna go buy a set of new ones from chevy. But like I said they came with all the emissions stuff like o2 sensor bongs, egr mounting. The only thing I don't think it has hook up for is for the secondary air injection system.

good enough....what do you think the net gains are going to be? i'd like to see between 190 and 200 hp with this and changing the other usual bolt on stuff. I'm not looking for time slips, more like efficiency and mileage.

thanks again,

mike

well stock are engine put out 160 hp, not sure if thats flywheel rating or rearwheel rating but you won't get 30+ hp just from headers. Your going to have to do more than just headers if you wanna break the 200 hp mark. But your starting simple I'd say next go to intake. K&N and SLP both make CAI for ours cars. I have the slp and I like it. faily easy to change the filters on the SLP never messed witht he K&N kit so I can't tell you much out bit.

Stock 3.4L is rated 160 HP (flywheel, not RWHP).

If you are still stock, headers aren't a good first mod.

yeah, i know what it's rated for stock, and i know i'm not going to see 20 or 30HP with just an exhaust changeover, but i think i can get there over time with an intake change, cooling, fuel regulation, and playing ecm games. I'll let you know how it goes.

by the way, on the pace setters, where did they locate the EGR mounting flange? is it at the collector or did they just hang it off the #4 cylinder?

thnx again,
mike
