I'm in the process of building a 383, so after pulling the intake off I noticed that my intake was sitting to low causing the intake ports on both the head and intake to be misaligned. How I noticed this was the intake gasket left a print the intake. My set-up consist of Trickflow 64cc heads and a Mini Ram II intake. See my sig
My question is how do I fix this problem?

... I noticed that my intake was sitting to low causing the intake ports on both the head and intake to be misaligned.... My question is how do I fix this problem?"intake ports on both the head and intake to be misaligned..." Wouldn't that qualify as a double negative? One misaligned with the other, yes, but both to each other? Anyway, obviously, the problem is width between the heads is wider, than the manifold needs. Either use thicker gaskets, or mill heads an amount that would lower port openings, and narrow the opening. OR, a combination of the two, depending on the gap, and the height difference. As heads mounting surface is milled (lowered) the gap is decreased, along with a lowering of the port opening.
It is also possible, your trickflows were machined incorrectly upon manufacturing. Then it is anybody's guess as to how much it is off, as you did not include that info.

Was your Mini Ram used? My guess is the intake was milled to fit another set of heads and the previous owner "forgot" to tell ya.
Ya can get thicker gaskets and if that isn't thick enough make your own out of thick gasket paper or put two together. If the bolts are tight ya will never know the difference.
Make sure the intake and head angle are not way off (.010-.015)where the gasket goes, or they won't seal anyway.
Don't those heads require a LT-4 raised port style intake?

arnie, 1racerdude,
Thanks for the reply. The heads are made for 87 to 95 sb not for LTI-LT4 and I bought the intake from TPIS, but I told them it was going on a ZZ4 create motor with stock vette heads that come with it. Meaning that the heads where 58cc chambered heads, so I guess that's my problem.
I just used my caliber to measure how far off the intake was. It was .160 not including the intake gasket thickness of .060 and that's a 1205 gasket. So I'll need a total gasket thickness of .220 to fix the problem. Is that currect and/or is it a little excessive?
Again thanks for your help.
