hey guys,
i have a 383 already... i want a v6 for myself and my GF..
i have a 2001 3.8 with low miles and a t5 tranny... i have the harness, but no PCM ... i do have the accessories
pics can be seen here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7991701619
what do i need to swap a 3.8 into a 3.4 car
i dont have a car yet.. i'm still looking !!!!
i'm worried about the
radatior, k member/motor mounts, pcm.... i dont care for A/C
again.. i already havea 94 TA ... i just want a v6 car!!!
It's like apples and oranges. You will probably run into problems with wiring putting it into a 93-95. I would look for a 95-02 chassis to put it in. Not positive but I think the k members are different. The radiator may work. You will need a 3.8 PCM. That kind of swap would probably be more of a b**** than my 3.4 to LT1. Good luck with it.

Won't even beable to use the same radiators... 3.8's are reversed cooled...
Basically it's just like swapping in a V8 only you don't have to replace anything behind the transmission and you MIGHT beable to stick with the stock suspension...
But you got ONE HELLA deal on that engine and tranny man! I wish I'd have caught that.... Project Twin Turbo 4.3L with Heads and Cam would have been started and I would have had a fun tranny to beef up to!

ok i got the engine infront of me
i have the exhaust manifolds, every sensor, engine harness, motor mounts, matching tranny.
i'm missing the ECM, k member for a 3.8 f-body, master slave cylinder w/ hydrolics.
other than that i just need the car to put it in!!!
will a automatic 3.8 computer work with a manual tranny?

No it won't...
btw another problem you may run into is guages... the guages were different for 98+ vs. a 3.4L car...

another problem, not sure if its a problem ask the peeps in appearance section... but the cluster may not fit in your dash, you may have to convert to an entire 98+ dash...
OR you might be able to sue a 95-96 computer but then you need to convert to a cable TB(99+ have drive by wire TB)

Correction.... 97 started the new console and gauges... Just pointing that out so he doesn't go out and buy a 97 and thinks it's an older gauge cluster... but then again 97 is a 3.8 anyway...
Also I would SERIOUSLY recommend you swapping the exhaust manifolds for some headers while the engine is out if it is at all possibal because those log manifolds really make tuneups difficult... and SMELTER wires and boots...
Your choice of 3.4 cars are 93 - 95 in some cases even 95's came with 3.8's...
For really the same price you can just as easily buy a running 3.8 and sell the engine as a downpayment unless you REALLY CAN get a shell Hella Cheap as this swap will be alittle costy...

its an '01 and he says he has the exhaust manifolds already. So they are tubular. I'd keep them as is... unless you want like a 3-4 hp gain with headers.
