Those of you that know me, I was getting some major work to my ride by Ryan Ahart. Well after two weeks of his awesome work, my mild little Z28 has been turned into a MEAN SOB!

Ryan: The car feels awesome:eek: It was quite pleasing to encounter a scared Mustang owner at the second light I hit:D He had a 96 GT with a SS looking hood. He asks me " Hey what have I done to my car?" So I told him it was stock with a cut out:lol: Of course he called :bs: I just laughed, and left him in the gas fumes! Thanks for all your help, and time.

Awesome work!:metal:

Yes sir, I'm looking forward to the nexy dyno day and was thinking about checking out the new place off of FM 2532. Should be pushing 500 to the rear wheels and about the same torque wise.

What heads and cam did you go with?

I'm about 90% done with my LT4 Hot install with trick flow heads and an LT1 intake conversion. I should be in the LOW 13's with traction. If I cut a 12.9999999 in cold weather I will be grinnin' :D

I bet you really did let that Mustang eat your gas fumes:D

I was there getting more work done by Ryan and does Alex's car sound BADASS! Now its my turn to get heads and headers in stalled. To bad my car is hydrolocked. I guess trhat is what I get for taking my car to the track with a blown head gasket!

You may have stomped on that Mustang but I sure remember seeing a White Xterra take you at the stop sign!;)

They were going to charge me a little over 2 grand for the original setup once again installed with all the same stuff I had once again. I figured I might as well go all out and enjoy it while I can.

<--- Jealous.

That's OK, though. In the future I could throw together a big block 502 ramjet and be in the 500's for hp/tq... only costs like $9k :D *putting down the pipe now*

The old motor blew due to an oil pressure problem. The number one rod snapped in half, the oil pan was punctured and the block has a 3inch hole in it.

The 422 is being built by Speed Demon Motorsports in Houston for $13k with stage 3+ heads and a 242 comp cam with a 111 or 112 lsa. Pretty much race ported heads with the double springs. It should be done sometime next week and will be at the Sonic meet in about 2 weeks. I just want it back and can't wait to get it out on the track.

Thats great news, you should run 10's all motor with that puppy.

Did you get a warranty with that engine ?
And why did you go with them VS MTI ?

Bloodztone
10-23-2002, 06:12 PM
It has a 1 year warranty voided if n2o or other power adder is put on it. I've gone to them several times and they have been reasonable, personable, and easy to work with. I had several recommendations from other Houston people about them. MTI wanted quite a bit more, and that was the major factor. Either way it will be fun to drive and I'll need a new tranny, verter, driveshaft, and rear end soon. I'll probably go with a Moser 12 bolt first and work on the other issues later.

That sounds A LOT like my best friend's '98 Z28. He was driving 70 down the highway and all of a sudden it cracked a rod and ruined the block. The dealership said it was an "oil consumtion problem." Is this a problem the '98's had or what? Cause i've heard of a lot of these things happening.

Good luck with the engine, sounds like it's going to be a killer. Are you going to stick to the warranty and not put power adders? Good luck keeping the drivetrain working!!

Thanks Kyle, yes for the first year I'm going to stay with the warranty. Besides it's a lot of power either way you look at it. I think the 98 block was just a bad block in general. Before I even started doing mods I had an oil pressure problem. It was hovering at 10psi right at idle and would never get higher than 45psi even at WOT. The oil pump had been changed as well and still had the same problem. In the end it was consuming a lot more oil than usual. So much that the low oil light came on and I just changed out the oil after only 2 months. We'll see how the new setup holds out. Drivetrain will get upgraded, I'll just be easy on the car until I get all the major parts in.

Ryan,

On Monday I gave a machinist the specifications to make me a countershaft endplay tool. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow. I am still shopping for the right dial indicator set. Then, if this damn rain would just let up long enough so I could remove the transmission and use these two tools to "reshim" it.

As soon as I fix the tranny, I will go to back to RCR and get that 12 second timeslip.

Lalo: I ain't shiftin @ sh!t right now! I need to get it tuned. It's barely driveable.

Ryan: I put the o2 simulators in the mail yesterday, and over nighted them.
Also I have a favor from the family " no not the mafia":D I'll shoot you an e-mail.
