sparkplug changing on 3.8 firebird

Well had a really bad miss on a few cylinders so i figured id do the plugs/wires to solve the problem! well first of all got all the driver side off (stupid boshe plugs all were misgapped) got front 2 off the passenger side, last one of pside was a bitch!!!! got 5 plugs done last night started on 6th plug again today finally got it done about 2 hrs ago!! (been working on it since 12pm) finally get it done and then wouldnt start had the plugs mixed up, redone them tryed again, still no start redid them 2x more times, nothing finally realized had the odd and even side mixed up got em done then lala STARTS now the stupid heat shield on the pside is being a bitch and not wanting to go back on!! but it finally got on and done took 1 1/2 days with 2 people!! @#*%^)#(*%6 i just wantd to shoot the car! and put it out of its misery, but next time i know and hopefully wont be so bad sorry about this rant just very cut/pissed off still

haha, i can do mine with a spark plug socket, a ratchet, a 1" extention, and a 3" extention, and about an hour, maybe less. And yes, its a 96, cast manifolds and all.....

How did you guys get the car up? Jack it up and put it on blocks? Or ramps?

I didn't do wires but I swapped my plugs out last night took me 10 minutes...


course I have tubular manifolds :)

I change #1 and #2 from the top.

I put the socket on the plug from the bottom and ratcheted them out from the top on #3 and #4 (especially difficult to get to).

I changed #5 and #6 from the bottom and thought they were the easiest to do.

I also suggest verifying the plug gap.

I have never trusted that 'pre-set from the factory' BS.

Your plug gap should be .060
