Could you ever get a Camaro/Firebird with a straight 6? I somehow remember a 2nd gen Firebird with it.

Yes, I have seen 1st and second gens with inline 6s.
In the 1st gens pontiac had an overhead cam inline six too, I think they called them sprints, or something like that.

I used to have a 75 Camaro with a 250 CI inline six, with a screaming 110 horsepower. It had an integral head/intake manifold, so I couldn't change the intake to step up horsepower. The really cool thing about that car is it was the only car I ever had that I could fully stall the torque converter. Put one foot on the brake, and mash the gas pedal to the floor. The tach would read about 3000 RPM and the car wouldn't move! It was the most consistant car I ever had.

You could get the inline 6 from 1967 til 78. After that it was a V6 :)

My dad has some crazy idea to remove the 305 in his pickup and swap it with an inline six that he bought for $75. The exhaust manifold is half-missing though. Any idea where you can buy a replacement, or even a header?

These guys should be able to help him find something for his inline 6.

Thanks for the link Johnny, but those headers are expensive! I was hoping to find a cheap header on eBay

I had a 68 Firebird Sprint. I had a 4.0 Straight 6 with a 4 barrel and dual exhaust. I dunno about 2nd gens, but the 1st gens were definately available with them. They were slow as hell though with the standard 1 bbl and single exhaust, tough as nails though, very hard to break them.

I'm sure you can find something on ebay.. either a header or stock type manifold... If youre not in a rush you'll definately find something at the right price.

I actually still have the badges from the i6 on the hood of my 67 bird. Of course there is a 400 in it now.
