currently having trouble with the trango shift kit on my trans., (i;m actually having someone install it) but the valves from the kit for the valve body don't fit. The kit is correct and for a 4l60E, and correct me if i'm wrong, but thats the trans used in 93-97 camaros, so I was thinking if it is even possible the trans. currently on the car might have came out of a 92 camaro which would have a 700R4.. is this possible? are the interchangable without swaping the torque arm and driveshaft? I always though the 700R4 was a longer trans., meaning using a shorter driveshaft and different torque arm, but am not too sure. Help me out here.

did 93 z28's come with 4L60 (non-electronic) and 4L60E? I know the shift kit is not interchangable in both, how would I know if I have the 4L60E or 4L60?

Yes I have had 93's with a 4L60/700R4. The main differences are the use of a Throttle Cable on the passenger side and the electrical connector is on the drivers side. 1993 was the first year for the 4L60E. The electrical connector was moved to the passenger side, the length is the same, trans mount same location. The 93-94 had a short manual lever, 95 and on had a long style with the manual lever selector switch (AKA Nuetral Safety switch) bolted to the side. Some guys would even convert some early 4L60E's over to the old style 4L60.

i'm gonna have to look at that, I really hope I didn't buy the wrong shift kit.. I guess the 4L60/700R4 trans shift kit is not interchangable with the 4L60E meaning there must be some diffrences in the valve bodies (springs, valves, etc.). How did that work exactly then.. did the early 93's come with a come with a 4L60 and the late 93's came with the 4L60E?? or is the 4L60 a swap that some guys did and the 4L60E is on all 93's factory??

wait... electrical cable on the 4L60??? why would a trans. that is not electronically controled have a electrical cable?

most 93's have the non-elec. 4L60/700R4, the 94-97 had 4L60E's

as far as I know the 4l60 and 4L60E tras kit are not the same.
each has a different setup inside, the parts are close but different enough
to have 2 different kits.

I just finished putting in a 93 4L60 in my 94, and saw both kits, and had to do some checking on them.

on the elect side, the 4L60/700R4 has the connector on the drivers side for the TCC lockup circuit. the later 4L60E have a connector on the pass side.

damn, looks like I definetly have the wrong shift kit... its kinda lame cuz it was listed from a seller on ebay as a 93 and up LT1/LS1 shift kit, and i guess they don't take returns, I guess i'll just have to get another one and pawn the original off on here.

I put a 700R4 tranny from a 89 Iroc into my 93 Lt1 about 8 mnths ago. the swap went striaght forward, nothing diffrent. my only prob now is that i dont have a connector for the lokup converter so it eats a lil extra gas. im going to the junkyard in a few days to pick up a harness connector that goest to te 700r4 and splice into the lockup wire.

I built my own, my 93 is sorta frankensteined, it's a 92 case with the 93 parts inside(long story) and I got the clip(square one) from the junk yard
off a v-6 tranny, it's the same clip.

then used a relay and made my own.
