Exclamation Something's going on with Chevrolet

I glanced through the latest edition of Road & Track today, and there was an SSR advertisement that was most curious.

In effect it said the SSR was going to be quickly followed by a series of "rule bending" Chevrolets.

Being that SSR will debut next year, it seems that we may be in for some good times... sooner, rather than later!

Probably means a bunch of other cars that don't look good and are slow are coming out.

I hope that doesn't mean that GM will have another Chevy retro/niche vehicle in the lineup after the SSR. Just more cash that could be used for a Camaro. Who knows though?

To me, a nice rule-bending Chevrolet would be a Camaro that kicked a Mustang's butt on the street, strip AND in sales.

Maybe their referring to the SS Silverado and future Belair and SS concepts.

z28x I was thinking the exact same thing. I can't see that happening, that's heresy.

If it's like these rules, I'd prefer they not bend anymore...

Rule 1) Do not make an ugly car. -> Aztek
Rule 2) Do not make a convertible Pickup -> SSR
Rule 3) Do not discontinue the 5th most recognized nameplate -> Camaro
Rule 4) Do not use treasured nameplates on dull cars -> Impala

Silverado SS
Impala SS
Monte Carlo SS (SuperCharged)

New Cavalier car
New Malibu...
New Colorado

etc etc etc...

I think rule 4 was first broken about 1960. Once again, I have to bring up all those "treasured" 4 door, three on the tree, 6 banger, bench seat, dog dish hubcap Impalas that seem to have somehow become completely forgotten resulting in every single Impala ever made somehow having become a V8 powered SS.

What about the hub cap, stripper V4/V6 3rd and 4th gen FBodies? Those arnt going to be the cars remembered, the TTA, Firehawk, 91-92Z, and SS/WS6 are what will be remembered. The fact is that there were higher models - cerca 1960, too - that will be remembered.

Rule bending =

Camaro, reborn as an SUV.
Impala SS, reborn as an SUV.
Chevelle SS, reborn as an SUV.
Monte Carlo, reborn as an SUV.

You get the picture.

Its obvious that the top and most liked models will be the 1's people think about. Also special and commemerative models like IROC-Z's, 1LE's, COPO's, and Anniversary cars.

Maybe they will break the same rules the Aztek and the Vibe broke.
