Thinking of headers. Want to go with SLP but very expensive. ANy suggestions?

Also; cats, or no cats...this is the question? how much more perfomance can i expect to run an off-road set up? How much louder is it?

cats...or no cats?

simple...
emissions or no emissions.

if you don't have them, why go through the expense of putting cats on??

SLP headers are nice, if you have the money and don't mind sacraficing clearance under the car.

i suggest Pacesetter or Flowtechs

Car sound better with cats IMO. I have an ORY and dislike the sound, it gets to barky and is louder then it needs to be at low RPMs, it sounds like I am really into it at 2500rpm. For headers, especially since you are in the north east, I would get stainless steel ones. Kooks, SLP, FLP. They are all expensive but worth it.

I have SLP's L/T's on the SS :D They get my vote :thumb:

Where are you in NJ.? If you're not too far away, you're welcome to hear them in person.

i am in burlington county, nj.

i have the emissions stuff on the car now. do you get more power with cats, or without cats.

Do headers make the car louder anyway?

not too worried about clearance, got exhuast and subframes anyway...scrapes if i run over a ladybug...lol...

do the slp's rust or discolor?

how much of a biatch is it to install those suckers?

sorry for the abondance of questions.
thanks all!

i have longtubes, orp, and subframe connectores...i've never scrapped any of them.
and i live in the south...land of the speed bump and steep driveways (no worries about plowing snow).

the SLPs are stainless steel, which means they won't rust. they could get discolored a bit due to heat and normal oxidation. but nothing major.

LTs are cake to install on LS1s...mechanically anyway. they just take time and patience and a felxible arm.

for the most part all brands should install the same, check out my detailed install page (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/243722/11)

headers alone dont neccessarily make a car louder..least not much...but removal of the cats DOES. think of them as small mufflers on each bank of the engine. and in the same thought...mufflers increase backpressure, which costs hp...
so no cats makes more power...

now how much power you lose by installing high flow cats? probably not much, not even noticable. maybe 5hp.
but i'll take that HP damnit
