Does anyone happen to know the GVWRlostitall 07-18-2005, 10:48 AM on a 1986 Z28? I would imagine it would be close to a 1984-1989 there abouts? The sticker is located on the drivers side door jam. My sticker is missing and I really need to know the gross weight. Thanks respectirocz 07-18-2005, 11:18 AM i dont know about the gross weight rating but my title tells me my 87 iroc weighs in around 3400 iansane 07-18-2005, 12:00 PM I'd guess around 3900-4200. Now, GVW is NOT how much the car weighs. It's how much weight the chassis can hold without damage. That actual weight of the vehicle would probably be anywhere from 3200 to 3600. RedIrocZ-28 07-18-2005, 03:44 PM I'd guess around 3900-4200. Now, GVW is NOT how much the car weighs. It's how much weight the chassis can hold without damage. That actual weight of the vehicle would probably be anywhere from 3200 to 3600. This man speaks the truth. I'd say your car is 3400-3500 or so, Mine is 3450 without me or my stereo in it. 89 Iroc. 85_305 07-18-2005, 05:31 PM I'd say your car is 3400-3500 or so, Mine is 3450 without me or my stereo in it. 89 Iroc. Your IROC is that heavy? Most third-gens weigh in at 3200-3300lbs. mako350Z28 07-18-2005, 06:13 PM Your IROC is that heavy? Most third-gens weigh in at 3200-3300lbs. Since when? I am on my third third-gen and the lightest one was 3400 (V6). My current one is the heaviest at 3520 without me or my stereo. With me and my stereo it weighs in at almost 3900 lbs. The sub box and amp is about 100 lbs and I am 240 lbs. 85_305 07-18-2005, 06:51 PM There is no way they weigh that much. Third-Gens are hundreds of pounds lighter than 4th gens.. and 4th gens weigh in at 3600lbs or so usually. mako350Z28 07-18-2005, 08:52 PM Mine does. I have a set of state certified scales 25 yards from me. 85_305 07-18-2005, 08:57 PM Hmm.... that is very interesting to hear :) Dave89IROC 07-18-2005, 10:16 PM mine was 3600 with me and a 1/2 tank in it, so, 3350 or so iansane 07-19-2005, 12:04 AM I've heard that 4thgens are usually heavier. But 3rdgens aren't light weights themselves. I haven't seen a somewhat stock thirdgen weigh any less than 3300 and that was my friends old 84 non-gfx, v6, 5-speed, no a/c t-top car. My vert is a fatass weighing at 3700 with a 3/4 tank. :D Tru2Chevy 07-19-2005, 01:27 PM Holy off-topic thread, Batman. - Justin mako350Z28 07-19-2005, 02:06 PM Oh yeah, gross weight is about 4000 lbs. Zepher 07-21-2005, 04:14 PM There is no way they weigh that much. Third-Gens are hundreds of pounds lighter than 4th gens.. and 4th gens weigh in at 3600lbs or so usually. My 86 Trans Am 305 LG4 T5 with all power options weighed in at 3380. My 88 Formula 305 TPI A4 with power locks and windows was 3440. 85_305 07-21-2005, 05:01 PM EH.. 3380 isn't *that* bad, but it's still on the heavy side :D Oh ya btw Manny, that Performer and Dist. run GREAT on my 305 :D Thanks for all your help :) Zepher 07-21-2005, 07:13 PM Cool, glad it's working for you. I think I gained 50hp when I put the carb and 7101 intake on my old LG4. the setup I sold you should net about 40hp since that is just the Performer and not the Performer RPM. Here, take a look at how my Formula is doing, http://www.transamws6.com/video/manny-acu4.wmv 85_305 07-21-2005, 08:11 PM Where those 50 dyno-hp?? If so, that is a LOT better than I was expecting :D I am really pissed it's only the Performer, but that will all be changed when/if I get my new heads :D BTW.. GREAT video Manny! That thing looks like it handles like a mofo! What hp-1/4 numbers you running now? That Performer carb is running AWESOME. It has throttle response that is IMMENSLY greater than the old q-jet! Zepher 07-22-2005, 12:05 PM I used a G-tech meter to get some numbers on my 86. Not the most accurate but it said 199hp at the wheels. I am not sure about the hp #'s on the Formula since I haven't dyno'd it yet, but I am thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 175rwhp since it is still a stock 305 TPI with a Holley SR on it. Car handles great since the suspension is in good working order. Pretty much all WS6 cars should handle this way. 85_305 07-22-2005, 01:41 PM You dont have your Formula modded in any suspension way except for the Eibachs? Zepher 07-22-2005, 08:29 PM nope, just eibachs and my old kyb shocks in the rear from my 86 transam 85_305 07-22-2005, 09:24 PM Nice :D How much you pay for those Eibachs? I am thinking about picking up some.. oh crap, forgot what brand but they are HD's. Zepher 07-23-2005, 03:27 PM I paid $75. I also just bought a set of Z06 wheels today. I can't wait to see how they look on the car. 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 in the rear. 85_305 07-23-2005, 05:10 PM Awesome :thumb: I bet those things (due to the size rubber they require) will hook like a MOFO! You paid $75 for all 4??? BTW.. PM sent manny. | ||
