buzz12586 07-17-2005, 07:24 PM I am having trouble getting my car not to bog on the launch. I don't have hardly any mods yet and my clutch is still stock. What are you guys launching at and what tips do you have for me? My best 60' on the drag radials is 2.1 which is horriable. I could cut that on street tires.
blackztpi 07-17-2005, 11:23 PM slip the clutch more. you can't drop the clutch from a 2000rpm at all. or anything else close in that case. just have to practice slipping it
buzz12586 07-18-2005, 02:57 AM I still have the stock clutch and it doesn't like slipping very much. I think that will be my next upgrade.
89385formula 07-18-2005, 01:29 PM I had serious problems with bog on the launch with my car as well. I tell you what, you shouldn't have much of a problem slipping the stock clutch....slipping a Spec 3 is a bit tougher. lol. Just practice, i am sure you will get the hang of it.
buzz12586 07-18-2005, 05:01 PM What I meant is that it gets really hot after a launch or two. It is very easy to slip the stock clutch. What rpm are you guys launching at??
timelord 07-26-2005, 09:40 PM 1500-1600 RPM with a little slip gave me 1.80-1.85 on ET STREETS or BFG DRs !!!!!!
Stock clutch will last about 400 runs this way.
Stock rear end,600 runs.
Experience tells me to practice, practice, and more practice. Get it down with the stock clutch before you spend money on an aftermarket. People usually install an aftermarket clutch after their stocker is gone or they have too much power for the stock clutch to hold. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
You need to master the stock clutch first as a clutch designed for higher horsepower cars is going to be more touchy than the stock clutch.
You have drag radials, right? Skip street night and go on a points day. The track should be much better prepped. You really should master what you have before moving on. It will make you a better driver and will give you a much better understanding of how things work.
buzz12586 07-27-2005, 06:34 PM I have never had any problem spinning the drag radials, just a problem with bogging. I have tried launching at 3500 or so and slipping the clutch but the best that has resulted with is a 2.08 60ft. Would launching at 2k and slipping it work better?? What about the throttle, after slipping some go you just put it on the floor?? My car is pretty much bone stock so I don't have that much power.
timelord 07-27-2005, 06:50 PM 1600 RPM ease into the gas until your front is lifted to its apogee[highest point] then nail it!!!!!
buzz12586 07-27-2005, 06:54 PM I think you are making a lot more power than me though. At what RPM do you stop slipping the clutch and let it fully out?
timelord 07-27-2005, 06:58 PM I used that technique from day one [1994/stock] until last year when the car was up to nearly 400hp,no difference.
It just comes out automaticly,I never thought about it,when the nose rises I think it is finished slipping.
buzz12586 07-27-2005, 07:07 PM I will have to try it cuz I have never launched it that low, I am thinking it is gonna bog. I will give it a try though, thanks for the advice.
1995greenTA 07-27-2005, 07:58 PM My spec stage 3 starts heating up and going to hell after about three launches too. This clutch sucks in my opinion.
timelord 07-28-2005, 01:12 AM It bogs a little but it will net you 1.8 60fts!!!!!!!
buzz12586 07-28-2005, 03:43 AM I was out practicing it on the street at it seems to be quicker. It is gonna take some getting used to though. Can't wait to try it out at the track.

Re-read Fred (Injuneers) post. Get out there and experiment, try a few different things and you will learn something - take notes, this will help a lot.

buzz12586 07-28-2005, 01:30 PM Yea its hard to practice when I only get one or two times at the track a month. Launching it on the street I can't tell what my 60ft is.

are you hot lapping the clutch? No clutch will hold through hotlapping!!! And to the launching if you have anything besides a 10 bolt launch that bitch 1600-3000 isnt going to net you a good 60 at all you have to leave hard ! I have a 9in and will be leaving and dumping the clutch at 5600 last year i was leaving at 3500-4000 and it would bogg all to hell with 1.7-1.8 60s.

timelord 03-29-2007, 01:38 PM I hot lapped like crazy stock,20-30 runs a day with no problem on stock tires.
With HP and Drag Radials I would still get 15-20 runs a day without problem!!!!
