unvc92camarors 07-16-2005, 03:37 PM Just wondering if a CTC is expected along with the new upcoming CTS?
I saw a CTS today and thought it would look absolutely stunning (more than it is) with only 2 doors.
mr00jimbo 07-16-2005, 03:42 PM Is this in a green light stage? Never heard of it. :o
stars1010 07-16-2005, 03:44 PM Does CTS stand for Caddy Touring Sedan?
So CTC would be the coupe?
Yeah Im a big dumb guy :D

I alway thought that CTS stood for Catera Touring Sedan? Does anyone doubt that DTS stands for DeVille Touring Sedan or STS is the acronym for Seville Touring Sedan? I challenge anyone out there to prove me wrong.
On the other hand, I don't have a clue what XLR stands for? What about SRX?

That's the "spin" from PR on the subject. When you rename a car, you are doing so to get away from the connotations, reputation, or image of the old name.
It doesn't take much at all to see through all this:
Catera sedan is replaced by the CTS
Sevelle sedan is replaced by the STS
DeVille sedan is replaced by the DTS
Then there's the ETC version of the Eldorado Coupe.
Last but not least, was the Cadillac Luxury Roadster, which was supposed to carry the name CLR. When GM found out that that name was taken by a company for it's chemical descaler, it suddenly became the XLR.
I recall a funny letter to the editor in Car and Driver. At the time the Seville had a model called the "Seville STS" and an Eldo called the "Eldorado ETC". Logically, the sport variant of the Catera would the be "Catera CTS", or "Cateracts". Kinda fit with the image of Cadillac at that time
It is rumoured that the next version of the CTS (due for MY 2008) will include a two-door version.
Meccadeth 07-16-2005, 09:12 PM What's the 'T' stand for?
What's the 'T' stand for?
"The"
(sorry, old joke :D)
It stands for "Touring", although Cadillac may tell you it doesn't mean anything.
Darth Xed 07-16-2005, 09:49 PM I never understood why the SRX was part of the "S-Class"....
If anything, it's more of a CTS than an STS... I guess Honda already uses "CRX" though
Would have made more sense with a different starting letter.... (Either that or STS should have gotten a different starting letter...)

Good Ph.D 07-17-2005, 01:17 AM I think the new design thing begs for a coupe. A midsize one about the CTS size and maybe a larger one about the size of the 6series that could come in a vert. A convertible hardtop at a competitive price and I would be all over it.
They were supposed to cover that ground with the Velite though, but who knows what happened to that? Buicks new styling if it can be called that is way more pedestrian than the concept. I dont see how you could make an interesting buick without making the others even more of a joke.

I agree... but I guess they felt the need to do what every other luxury mangufacturer does...
At least it looks liek they are keeping the "Excalade" name for the next generation, though it, then, become kind of odd that it is the only "name" in the whole group, in a way....
Random Precision 07-17-2005, 10:51 AM true, but remember they also use the name ESV on the extended ones

Ya, they have Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade EXT... but they still have the "Escalade" base name...
30thZ286speed 07-17-2005, 12:49 PM Escalade has become a too much of a bling, bling identity name to get rid of it just yet.
