N20Dave 07-14-2005, 10:33 PM Well after not working on it for a few weeks due to business reason and the like, we finally made some progress and got the motor in the car. To our suprise and delight, everything cleared :) . Check it out.

96speed 07-14-2005, 10:40 PM You removed the fender to install the motor? That's cheating! :p Looks great, Dave.
Question: What kind of power steering pump is that?
Ryan
N20Dave 07-14-2005, 11:13 PM Yeah, I'm thinking about putting them back on with dzus fasteners :p It's a Jones Racing pump.
94TA_LT1 07-15-2005, 12:32 AM did you have to clearance the firewhall or cowl fot the dist. or what was the main reason for clearancing it?
Tweaked Zed 07-15-2005, 12:36 AM Awesome. Looks great. Especially the cowl work and wiper mount! Sweet.
Should get back to work on mine next week. My buddy's car finally made it out after three weeks of thrashing. Iron 408 LS1 with a YSI-Trim made 780rwhp on 12psi. Launches good with the 29.5x10.5's off the t-brake. Doesn't even feel that boring... without jerking the left leg back and forth. ;)
RBE17 07-15-2005, 10:42 AM Dave,
Looks good. I'm glad everything cleared the cowl. I knew you were sweating bullets when you guys got the larger throttle body.
Later,
Steve.
N20Dave 07-15-2005, 11:47 AM Thankd guys. We did the cowl work mainly to clear the big throttle body but looking back at it, I don't think the distributor would have fit as well had we not, especially when putting the motor in.
unstable bob 07-15-2005, 01:54 PM I'm trying to think of some way to describe this project...words like "cool," "awesome," "spectacular," etc. just don't do it justice...
Guess I'll just have to go with something like "max zoom ultra bad azz to the google power!!!!!"
Really, nice job! What size tires do you have on the front of that beast? Looks like it will take a corner nicely!
N20Dave 07-15-2005, 05:34 PM Thanks oh mighty unstable one ;) They are 315's on the front with 335's on the back. Drag setup right now is sportsman fronts and Hoosier 28x13.5x15 on the back.
unstable bob 07-15-2005, 05:43 PM They are 315's on the front with 335's on the back.
Umm, err, ahh, ohh, mmm, biddle-dee biddle-dee bop...I'm friggin' speechless...that is just so...DAYUM FRIGGIN' COOL!
I'm takin' down my poster of Farrah, I want a poster of YOUR CAR! :D
OldSStroker 07-15-2005, 06:17 PM Guys, if you haven't met unstable bob, you have missed one of life's finer experiences. I recently had the pleasure. Ahh, Canadian and garlic pizza!
Bob, I'll take the old poster off your hands.
Zero_to_69 07-16-2005, 12:00 AM Damn, that's a tight fit. The passenger side header looks like fun to bolt up
and access plugs.
Are the motor mounts moved back on the frame, or does it appear that way
because the rad and fan are not installed?
Speaking of motor mounts...I bet you're using solid mounts with a 0.000000001"
clearance between the fuel line and cowl :D

Bob, I'll take the old poster off your hands.
Meeting you and Bret was one of my best days, too, Sir! And I'm still raving about that pizza and beer. And until a few days ago I was still belching about it! :D
Taking the old poster "off my hands" might be a "sticky" situation...
EWWWW, GROSS!!!!! :D :D
Z-RATED94 07-16-2005, 02:13 AM Being just a rookie car buff compared to you gents, I will restrict my comment about the car to "SWEET". But I have to ask, would anything in life be better than taking a break from working on Daves car, sucking down your favorite brew, eating your garlic pizza, with onion and jalapeno on it by the way, while listening to your favorite rock and glancing over to the Farrah poster as your wife comes to the garage door in something skimpy and says hurry up honey, you promised me a date tonight, and by the way, don't worry about the extra money you need to finish your car, we'll manage.
I'll go to bed now, seeing as how I already seem to be dreaming.

Yeah, that is a nice dream! But it is just that, A DREAM! Hell, I came home from cruising tonight, and my wife hit me in the head with a vase because I didn't ask her to go. But just last week she hit me in the head with a vase because I asked her if she wanted to go cruising while one of her fav TV shows was on! Only thing I know is I'm dayum glad we're just about outa vases!

Thanks for the laugh, I needed it. The wife had just read my last post, slapped me up side the head, and said, stop dreaming, you KNOW that ain't never happening in your lifetime. God I love that women.
69vette 07-28-2005, 07:56 PM Just wondering how the car was coming. Also wante to try to get in contact with you and see who made the headers or if you made them yourself. What type of times are you expecting for the car to run if you can get it down the track?
Victory Racing 07-28-2005, 09:20 PM Dave the car looks great. Should be afun project when all is said and done. What are your goals for the car or any objectives you have set for the car.
I love the fact that it still has power steering, I can't tell but is it using the factory rack and pinion?
TravProcharged94Z 07-28-2005, 09:45 PM Wow! thats all I can say.
Looks great! Very nice job!
N20Dave 07-29-2005, 10:53 AM Thanks guys,
Lemons made the headers, call and talk to Dan. It's a factory rack with a Jones Racing pump. It should work well.
As far as performance goes, we all know power is only half the battle. I believe We have a good handle on the chassis so with the power I think it should run low 10's on the motor, maybe 10.20 or 10.10. If we could get some weight out of it it would goes 9's on motor without too much trouble but that would compramise the street theme. With the full 350 shot I'm guessing it should run somewhere in the low 9's.
Dave,
Sounds like it will be a fun ride :) . Do you still have the video of the dyno pull? Your link does not seem to be working for me.
Thanks,
Don
N20Dave 07-29-2005, 04:15 PM Try right click and save as, that should work.
69vette 07-29-2005, 06:04 PM thanks for the information on the headers.
Mindgame 07-31-2005, 11:38 AM :metal:
Go Dave!
Now get that beast to the track and see what she'll do. :)
Best of luck.

BLOWNBIRD 09-06-2005, 12:26 PM Dave,
Any news on the buildup? We were looking for you at Maple Grove, thought you might be running in the True street class again. I hope everything is comming together for you.
DonB.
N20Dave 09-06-2005, 12:35 PM Hey Don, THings are o.k. I started a new business and thats taking alot of time away from it. I'm working on wiring right now. The whole driveline is back in the car so that's a plus. I'm taking my time as most of this year is already shot. I might be able to make some shakedown passes before the year is out.
N20Dave 09-07-2005, 11:03 AM It's a type of computer consulting company. It has since absorbed all of my time and most of my remaining money. In the mean time I am doing what work I can on the car.
Mr.Whitey 09-08-2005, 09:39 AM DAMN!
(I think I've seen those headers somewhere before. :D )
N20Dave 09-08-2005, 10:44 AM Yeah, some cool dudes did the best coating job I've ever seen on them, maybe you know those guys ;)
Mr.Whitey 09-08-2005, 11:03 AM Yeah, some cool dudes did the best coating job I've ever seen on them, maybe you know those guys ;)
Cool dudes... LOL. I do know them, and they are all gone. We've (Greg, Scott and myself,....among others in the fab end) all quit over the past month. I left about a month ago and Greg left shortly thereafter. Scott coated your headers and had the least experience (2 mo.+/-). He left last week...all three stooges are gone. There is now not one person working there w/ ceramic coating experience...but they continue to operate. I would love to see the quality of the crap coming out of there now...... :yuck:
Anyway, I look forward to seeing/hearing this beast in person.
