That kind of kills the idea of an 07 camaro. Do they really plan to wait that long? Ford and Chrysler will mop the floor with them if they wait that long.

What the hell did I miss? You step out for one second and everything comes crashing down.... IZ28 07-14-2005, 01:56 AM They're not. Who told you that LOL?! NeoSNK 07-14-2005, 03:11 AM It was posted on gminsidenews.com GM sidelined the new platform that was coming from holden and said it wouldn't build a rwd till around 2010. I'll try to find the link. But it was posted a few months ago. Melee Penguin 07-14-2005, 03:21 AM They aren't working with a platform from Holden, it's Sigma/Sigma Lite now. NeoSNK 07-14-2005, 03:45 AM I guess its still a posibility. They cancelled zeta though. gab 07-14-2005, 03:49 AM I guess its still a posibility. They cancelled zeta though. see shadow's post above.....cancellation of "zeta" for NA is kinda moot now. number77 07-14-2005, 04:26 AM Uh....with the 300c success...the mustang success....the gto making a HUGE turnaround... Their source would almost have to be Lutz himself to talk like that. :) Meccadeth 07-14-2005, 04:29 AM ....anyway..... But it was posted a few months ago. Sorry, but the new RWD Buick sedan goes into production next spring, about 3.5 years before 2010 I guess its still a posibility. They cancelled zeta though. Zeta was just a name for VE cars. VE production starts in 2006 down under. Sigma-lite will be used in the USA instead of Zeta/VE SCNGENNFTHGEN 07-14-2005, 12:16 PM More smoke & mirrors for the general population. Keep em' confused, this way they'll never know what hit em'! ;) 91_z28_4me 07-14-2005, 12:21 PM Can we put a lock on posting till people have read a certain number of topics within the 5th gen forum? I think we could prevent a lot of these off base threads. To make this exciting, what do you preferr SS or Z/28? :p SCNGENNFTHGEN 07-14-2005, 12:27 PM I like both, but I'm probably more a Z/28 guy! I guess, I like that its exclusive to Camaro, as well as the history of it. ;) Flip94ta 07-14-2005, 01:12 PM I am a Z28 fan myself. But on the pontiac side it's gotta be a WS6. I feel for the guy who started this thread, it is confusing sometimes to figure out what is going on. BTW how are GTO sales going, what is a huge turnaround? are they gonna sell the 18-20000 units that they orginally thought? When the car magazine had GTO vs Mustang comparasion and the GTO basically blasted the GT and they still picked the GT I knew that would help sales. All the GT haters knew what the tool of choice was for dismantling a Mustang. Too bad the next gen GTO looks like crap. MAYBE it will be better in person. muckz 07-14-2005, 02:54 PM To make this exciting, what do you preferr SS or Z/28? :p I did the same thing in another thread to see if people want turbo z/28, and people started respoding... such humour, so wasted.... :D SCNGENNFTHGEN 07-14-2005, 03:03 PM Where can I see what the next gen GTO's are gonna look like? 4th gen WS6's are sweet! I can only speak for what I see leaving the local dealer on the GTO's, but they do seem to be moving more of the 05's. 91_z28_4me 07-14-2005, 03:57 PM Where can I see what the next gen GTO's are gonna look like? 4th gen WS6's are sweet! I can only speak for what I see leaving the local dealer on the GTO's, but they do seem to be moving more of the 05's. You can see it here about 2-3 months before the rest of the world. SCNGENNFTHGEN 07-14-2005, 06:09 PM I know, but besides that? Post #14, Flip94ta says the next gen gto looks like crap, as if he's seen it already. I was just wondering if maybe, I mist something. Or he/she is an insider? LS1_Disciple 07-14-2005, 08:02 PM To make this exciting, what do you preferr SS or Z/28? :p And the follow-up question, what are all the reasons why the 3rd gen was the best ever and the 4th did nothing right? :D guionM 07-14-2005, 10:53 PM ... No one has pictures of the next gen GTO, and with Zeta cancelled in North America, it's going to be a small miracle if we get the next GTO before 2010 when Holden can add it to their Zeta line. 2. GTO has a shortened sales year for 2005 as GM brings GTO's model year intro to the fall with other products instead of December where it's been for the past 2 years. GM slated 15,000 this year because of this. Just the same, GTO's sales are way up, and selling ahead of projections. That's 2005 GTOs, not leftover 2004s. :) 3. Pick up the latest edition of MPH magazine. GTO trounced Mustang and Charger, and won what they call their "Tire Shredding" contest. routesixtysixer 07-15-2005, 10:34 AM He's probably referencing that rendering that Motor Trend printed last month. Pretty poor effort, IMO. I don't believe that the next-gen GTO will look much (if anything) like that. Interestingly enough, the Ausies are reporting that Monaro production will cease in November of this year and no more VZ Monaros will be produced. Goes along with what I read about current Monaro/GTO platform can't be built to satisfy new federal standards that go into effect on January 1, 2006. Sounds like they plan to produce and stockpile MY06 models till the end of CY05 and then shut 'er down. Who knows when GTO will be back. On the other hand, I have read that they will continue VZ production right alongside the new VE as long as GMNA wants a GTO. Flip94ta 07-15-2005, 10:58 AM Thank you for clearing that up, I think it was in motor trend, I have seen the yellow gto picture more than once and it looks horrible. I was fustrated to see that on pontiac.com that you cant get a GTO for employee pricing, atleast they are gonna loss money on every car they sell. :D Now that GTO sales are picing up why doesn't pontiac show more tv ads and talk about performance vs the competetion. I know the ad budget is tight but why not advertise a car that your gonna turn a dime on. I liked the GP/bonnieville/GTO ads but it was dumb to include the bonnie and then kill it a year later. Now that comericial is useless. 91_z28_4me 07-15-2005, 12:10 PM Thank you for clearing that up, I think it was in motor trend, I have seen the yellow gto picture more than once and it looks horrible. RussStang 07-15-2005, 02:05 PM And the follow-up question, what are all the reasons why the 3rd gen was the best ever and the 4th did nothing right? :D Good question, since both cars follow almost the same formula. | ||
