Well I tried to put some 134 in my car, and it won't go in. Found out my compressor isn't coming on. I don't think that the compressor just up and broke since I haven't used it in 5 months and now the first time I tried to turn it on it isn't working.
I read in my Haynes Manual that if my coolent is low the compressor won't come on and so it won't suck the 134 in. The manual mentioned that I could run a jumper wire to the compressor to force it to come on and suck the 134 in, so do you guys think thats what I need? Is there any easy way to tell if I'm just out of coolent and thats why my compressor isn't working, or is something else broken? If I do need to run a jumper wire from the battery, does anyone know how to do it?

find the hot wire off the compressor splice in to it and run it straight to the battery + side hook your gauges up and start charging it USUALLY you dont have to keep the temp wire hooked up all that long depending on how low it is. Also might want to make sure your condensor is clean (or as clean as it can be from bugs or anything else) take a hose and spray it to clean some of the dust out of it that will help with your system taking freon good luck to you

If it is not kicking on because of pressure just jump the pressure switch no need to splice into anything. This is from Shoebox website #18 http://shbox.com/1/ac_system.jpg

Was the system open for 5 months or just low on 134 and not used?

Jumping across the low pressure switch didn't do crap for me. If it works for you - great. I had to jump across the A/C relay in the fuse/relay box in the engine bay. That was the only way I could get the compressor to engage and the system to accept refridg. Oh, and after you charge, you probably have to reset the PCM, either pull the fuse in the driver's side fuse box, or disconnect the battery, either for 30 sec.

I just plain old didn't use the A/C for 5 months. I live in FL so the winter months are fantastic. Its getting hot now, so I tried to turn it on and nothing... I don't know if it was low or not. I just know that the compressor won't come on, and I'm guessing thats because all the 134 leaked out.

I'm also in the same delima. I have checked the high pressure switch, freon levels, and even replaced the pigtail going into the compressor. All is fine for about 2-3 days unless the outside temps become real hot, then the compressor shuts down and won't come on until I reset the computer from the battery. (It's only takes 30 secnds? ---- I thought it was 10 minutes for some reason or 1 minute maybe.) The fuse sounds better to me anyways if it is only 30 seconds, now just have to find out which one but shouldn't be hard to figure out.
Also, for some reason, I have not been able to FIND the low pressure switch to check and/or replace it! I now have found the diagram from above and will be checking the engine bay tom. after work as the Z is not accessible at the moment.
