nonojoe66 07-08-2005, 12:47 AM hey guys im geting a extra set of stock salad shooters for free from my uncles z28 for my drag radials, and im thinking about trying it on the 2 left over since i will only need 6 and i have 8, and if they come out good im going to do all of them. anyone have pictures of them done? any tips for doing it?
meissenation 07-08-2005, 09:42 PM I don't have pictures on hand, but I've seen chromed salad shooters and they actually look pretty darn good in my opinion.
cwaldt 07-09-2005, 12:49 AM On ,y 94 I hade my stock rims polished out. I paid 700 dollars and loved it. They looked good and were easy to clean. I haven't done anything to my 95 because its a Z28 and I want to go to a wider rim. If I could get a wide enough tire on the stock rim I'd do this again.
Heatmaker 07-09-2005, 01:22 AM Salad shooters are only good for one thing... and that's selling them on ebay to only use the money buy rims that actually look good.

I disagree. I think they go with the car great.
Either polished or chrome is nice (as I've seen them on some nice Camaros) but I prefer the more subtle paint look myself.
Good luck and make sure to get a buffer.
nonojoe66 07-09-2005, 11:04 AM cwaldt, do you have any pictures of them on your 94? i have all the time in the world cuz i got 2 sets so thats not an issue so hopefully they will come out realy good, and i think they will look much better against my patriot red car then the silver paint. and i wish i could afford new rims but i cant so im gonna make due wit wat i have. and if i had a grand for it right now it would b nitrous kit not rims lol
unvc92camarors 07-09-2005, 11:12 AM You gonna use a buffer nonojoe66? I would reccommend it. I actually am more of a guy who does everything by hand (I still don't have a buffer/pc) but for the wheels it'd be a good idea to get a drill of some sort and get some pads for it.
Oh, and cwaldt, you ever think of just widening the stock rim? I saw it done on ws6.com and it looked good (they went from 9.5 WS6 rims though to 11"). I plan on doing this eventually. I'm trying to keep the sleeper stock look and I'd still be able to hook pretty damn well depending on what size I get it widened to.
blown94 07-09-2005, 01:00 PM Ive got chrome salad shooters on my '94 TA and let me tell you, it looks awesome. Ive gotten numerous compliments on them, and people always asking if they came stock on the car, and I laugh and tell them to read the centercaps where it says chevrolet. The guy I bought them from had little stickers in silver and black of a flaming skull that covers the center where it said Camaro so that was cool becuase you cant really read the chevrolet unless you look closely. Ive thought about polishing the centercap aluminum part to remove the "chevrolet" crap, but now ive gotten ahold of a set of WS6 rims off an '02. Im going to miss the chrome salad shooters, they really did flow nicely with the car (which is red btw). Maybe ill keep them for backup's or DR's. Ill see if I cant get you a pic, shouldnt be hard, its my background pic on my PC, lol. Just have to find where its stored, or find the original disk its on.

cwaldt 07-09-2005, 06:30 PM Sorry I don't have any pictures because I don't have my 94 anymore. THose on the TA look good you can also see some on www.rksport.com I think.
nonojoe66 07-09-2005, 11:15 PM blown94, i think those wheels might look better on a t/a then on a camaro lol if only they came in 17s they would look amazing, yea im gonna experiment with a drill probably we will see how it comes as i do it, ill post pics if they come out good
blown94 07-10-2005, 01:45 AM Yeah, thats the downfall, I had 255/50's on them, and thats actually quite a nice tire if you got the right compound. I was running ecsta 712's, and at that size they were actually quite nice. Especially if you did a little burnout and got them to just start smokin'. They seemed to get real sticky once warmed up, and I got a ton of useage out of them even doing this. For the price for that size, you couldnt go wrong. But I got a good deal on the WS6 rims so I figured WTH. Im going with the sleeper look, so I liked the chrome salad shooters, but the WS6 rims are 17's and I can get about 20-30 MM more width in tread so it wasn't a hard decision. If yer interested I might be willing to separate with them for $400, and I have a set of firehawks to fit on them also that are damn near brand new for say $300 more.
guywithaZ 07-10-2005, 10:14 PM The chrome salads on my black 96 looked real good at night under street lights rolling down the road...but I wanted bigger so I went chrome ZR1...shiney salads look good IMO...
nonojoe66 07-12-2005, 12:32 AM u get my pm blown94?
blown94 07-12-2005, 05:57 PM yeah, im not looking to trade anything though unless its upgrading. Ive already got another set of reg salad shooters on a V6 95 im selling. I was thinking of putting the chromes on there so it looks nicer. Ive also got a set of firestone firehawks for them, 255's, almost new.

Does anybody have any decent to good quality pictures of chromed or polished salad shooters? I'm looking into buying a dremel kit and the required necessities for polishing, and I would consider tackling the wheels if its worth it. Thanks!
94Camaro_Z_28 05-04-2007, 01:35 PM I've been toying with the idea of polishing my salad shooters....I'm just not sure I want to spend that much time on them.
marshall93z 05-06-2007, 11:50 AM I did one and it took so long I decided against doing the others. :(

DID U FORGET THE T TOP OPTION? LOL:think:
maddog05 05-10-2009, 11:47 AM I have the chrome salad shooters and they look great...I bought them used and they are starting to spall and in some of the grooves are bubbling up. They stilll get compliments. I also have the stock salads and yesterday spent 4 solid hours trying to get one down to bare metal and the polish it to a mirror shine and replace the worst chrome wheel but using paint strpper is hard and messy. Time was running out so I focused on one section, finally, and it shined up great. The next step is to find a wheel finishing co or machine shop to finish the job and do another wheel too. The end product should be lighter than the chrome ones and just as pretty.
