AlwaysCode390 07-06-2005, 11:40 PM I am about to take off the z28 emblems on my ride and replace them with different shaped/style z28 emblems but am worried the paint underneath may be in better shape than the rest of the paint. Should I worry about there being a "shadow" left behind on the paint from my old emblems?! They are just "glued" on and not actually riveted in like the old days right?! Thanks--
RacingTiger04 07-07-2005, 12:19 AM yep, theyre glued on... good luck getting that glue off too cause thanks to my grandfather taking the lazy way out not only is my entire car pink right now but i have huge gray spots where i use to have Z28 badges... sanded it down farther tahn any other spot on the car  thanks to him its gonna cost me 2x as much to get my car painted now
AlwaysCode390 07-07-2005, 10:25 AM Oh bummer dude!!! Well my paint is in pretty good shape so I hope I will be alright, and as far as the glue I will just use the adhesive in the same spots to mount the new badges I guess, lol ?!
meissenation 07-07-2005, 10:49 AM Floss or fishing wire usually helps to remove the adhesive, or a low-strength goo-be-gone type product.
RacingTiger04 07-08-2005, 12:21 AM if ur REEEAAALLLY handy with a small sharp knife that works well, used tha tmethod on a friend of mines car while he was getting his ready to paint, took a small bit of clear in a few spots but it was a HUGE strip of adhesive lol... that fishing line idea sounds good though hmmm... good luck with it either way!

Thanks for that little peice of advice. I appreciate it!!! :)
Pandamonkey 07-09-2005, 12:10 PM I used a heat gun and a some fishing line.
I didn't get any "shadow" left.
hllywd 07-09-2005, 12:42 PM I did the heat gun, floss and goo gone.
Did a great job. No shadow.
Then went with 69' style badges.

camaros4ever 07-18-2005, 10:47 PM Did you guys remove the old emblem then remove the residue or did you try to remove it all at once?
RacingTiger04 07-18-2005, 11:56 PM very nice! whered you get the badges?! im thinkin of changin mine up since they got lost by the painter anyway... :death:
Z28-CTYHNTR 07-19-2005, 02:44 AM Cool man I went with the 69 badges too. Had them for a while, i bought the cheap reproductions and the chicago winters where not kind to them so im going to buy new ones soon. I got two for the fenders and one for the grille, I think it looks cool, never personally got a compliment on them tho. As for the original emblems I did the opposite of everyone else I removed them in the cold and for the most part they popped right off glue and all. lol I removed the remaining glue with rubbing alcohol.
AlwaysCode390 07-19-2005, 03:26 AM I have heard wd40 will get the remaining glue off too :)
hllywd 07-19-2005, 07:03 AM Classic Industries ahs them and also Tamraz ebay store.

AlwaysCode390 07-20-2005, 01:07 AM I just took mine off tonight, still looks like they are on my car since there is SO much adhesive left behind :(. I will let you guys know how the wd40 works on the leftover stuff after I use elbow grease tomorrow :)
Z06Z28 07-20-2005, 09:00 PM I used goo-gone and I used my fingernail to gently get the residue off. I also used water frequently to wash away the debri that was starting to come off. There was a tiny bit of shadow but not too bad. I covered it with new badges.
Here's my ride of another old skool badge.
