I bought a spec stage 4 clutch and I was curious if it is necessary to install a new throwout bearing.

My old tranny/clutch never made any noise.

You always replace the throw out bearing. If it were to fail, you will have too pull everything back apart.

I believe that the pressure plate comes pre installed with the throw out bearing. you will need to buy and replace the pilot bearing.

Yes, the bearing should be replaced.

Whats the bearing inside of the flywheel? Is that the pilot bearing? I guess maybe I am not clear on the two. The clutch came with a install tool, pressure plate, disc and this bearing that is 1 1/8" outside diameter and roughly 5/8" inside diameter.

That is the pilot bearing. I had one fail about 5000 miles after a new ckutch was installed. Everything had to come back off to replace a $10 part. make sure the bearing is greased, too.

Ok, it looks like the new clutch kit came with a new pilot bearing then? Cause my old one is bronze looking and this new one from spec is silver. However, my stock clutch was just replaced really recently and the pressure plate and the discs and everything look almost as new as my new spec stage 4. I simply am replacing the clutch system because the clutch wouldnt be able to handle the HP.

So basically I should be able to just use the install tool and put in the new pressure plate, disc etc.
