I have kind of a weird problem with my T56. Lets say i am slowing down for a corner, i press the clutch in, put it in second gear and then let the clutch out. Sometimes, as i am letting the clutch out it will pop into neutral. I if i keep my hand on the shifter it doesnt happen. Any ideas? Once its into gear and I let the clutch out I dont have any problems.
It only does this in second.

Anyone? Does it sound like a shift fork?

I had this problem the first time i drove my car. I discovered that i need to be concious and completely push the shifter all the way back, or it would pop out, but if i kept my hand on it it wouldn't pop out, but i've been told that at WOT if the shifter pops out which it can do, that it can really shatter someone's wrist (aftermarket shifter with adjusted shift stopping points)
so i wonder if you have an aftermarket shifter with preset stopping points??

Well there are a couple of reasons this can be happening
1. Your clutch isn't engaging all the way.
which can be due to air in the hydraulic system, or a worn out clutch parts.
2. The more serious reason would be your Gear Syncros are going out... which would allwo yoru car to spit gears back at you. This is rare and hardly happens on the bullet proof T-56's so "1" is more likely.

I am running a factory hurst shifter. The car shifts fine, I just have to hold it into second gear. Any other gear is fine.
I am pretty sure the clutch is engaging and disengageing properly.
It will usually pop out just as I let the clutch out. So it goes into gear fine, take my hand off the shifter, start to release the clutch, and then it just slips out of gear and grinds.
