Not all cops are "Bad".

I have seen alot of complaining about our area law enforcement on this
board. I just wanted to write this to let everyone know about my recent
"run in".

I got on I-275 south bound, got up to speed and set the cruise. I was in the left lane, and someone came up from behind really fast. I moved to the center
lane to let him/her by, but the person slowed down. Next thing I know there
is another car right behind me and the flashers go on.

He said he clocked me @ 94 and I thought and said no way. I mentioned that
to be going that fast my car would be really loud (especially w/ 4:10 gears).
I said, "If you told me 75 - 78 or even 80 I probably was going that fast.

I gave him my info, then he went to his car. When he came back he told me
looking at the video he could not prove that it was me, he still thought it was
me and said so. He the proceeded to let me go with a warning. I know that
was hard for him to do since he was convinced it was me. I know that it
wasn't me, but I still appreciate that he actually weighed my response
and took the time to try to disprove me first.

I just wanted to close by saying that I know they have a rough job, I could
not do it! The perception that they are "Bad" has to be hard to fight, its like
anything else, a few that miss use the authority give the rest a bad name.

I had a cop give me a ticket for 65 in a 55 on my bike when he said the radar clocked me at 126. That was cool as hell.

In east pointe i got pulled over and the cop said i was spinning my tires. I told him i have drag radials and can't just spin them with out holding down the brake. Me and him argued for five minutes. He went to his car and came back and kissed my ass cause i caught him in a lie. ya there job might be hard but it's the job they choose. Plus when did harrasment become police work? Don't get me wrong there are some good honest cops then there are some dirty, power hungry cops.

I got pulled over for doing 58 in a 40 when i was doing... 40

Got a ticket and was almost shot when I asked if it was possible he might be wrong. Talk about a bad situation to be in.

Nice eh? This was a few years ago. It can go both ways. I have had way more negative expiriences than positive ones.

I agree with you Zdriven about this board complaining about cops. Anytime police are brought up, everyone seems to have a complaint about them. What they don't understand is that there are way more cool cops then a$$holes. The reason people think cops are such dicks is because for the most part the only contact you have with them is negative. (tickets ect...) But what people don't realize is that they pass tons of "cool" cops everyday who don't pull them over and "harass" them. The "cool" cops might not care if you are speeding, or not wearing your seatbelt, or talking on your phone, or whatever the case may be. You can't pull out of your driveway without commiting some kind of traffic violation that the police can enforce. Some cops choose to enforce more things than others, but that don't make them all dicks.

Dave...He should have tazed ya. :p

I've had all good experiences except one.

-10 over knocked down to 5 over/No points

-No left turn ticket(my fault) he coulda warned me since it was a new sign, etc($80)

-Passing a stopped school bus in opposing lane: almost went to jail, $1000 bond, etc...It ended up being 2 seperate days in court, 300+ miles TO the courthouse, 3 points when It supposedly got taken from 5 down to 2. Lost 2 weeks overtime on top of 2 days pay and paid $80 in fines. I proved the officer wrong by finding the law online, told the judge and then the officer said it wasn't a 5 lane road but a 3 lane which made me guilty, then he told the prosecutor 2 lanes, etc...Bunch of crap. :)

I had a cop let me go doing 100 in a 45 on my F4i. I didnt even have my full endorsement at the time either. He was cool.

But I had just paid a fat ticket for a smoking car (blows a puff when I shift) in my 4 banger, and another for a loud muffler in the camaro (mac mids, ory, and magnaflow). I figured it was somebody that knows I pay bs debts to society helping me out :D I've paid enough bs wrongful tickets that should buy me at least a few more "warnings."
