BCAUTOSOUND 06-21-2005, 10:07 PM I would extremely recomend people look at another manufactuers product. I have went through a nightmare with my kit i bought from them. Got the whole kit installed and got to the last step and the tensioner pully wasn't in the box. Called vortech last friday they said they would next day air it. Monday came no tensioner. Called back said was still on the shipping table would send out that day. Tuesday comes no show. Will update the story tommorrow.

Dude... relax... it's not the end of the world. Ask them for some free stuff for your time. T-shirts, hats, etc. :D
Sounds like you're a little upset
Heck I would take the whole kit off and demand my money back
That would show them
You could have gone to a local Ford dealer and got that part and had it running already and probably been reimbursed by Vortech.
Thanks for the heads up, I wouldn't want to put any parts that suck on my car
engineermike 06-21-2005, 10:56 PM I had a similar problem in that they left out the harmonic damper that's supposed to come with LT1 kits. Since I was also in a hurry (no reason except impatience), I had Vortech fax me a drawing so I could machine the stocker to the correct dimensions.
I never mentioned to them that they accidentally sent a 6.66" crank pulley instead of the damper.

Is that so? Either can be made to work well. I think a centrifugal is easier to install.
Pump gas P'charger F1 383 through a loose converter with a crappy single exhaust. I bet there's another 50-75hp with a good exhaust system.:

nice numbers, what pulleysizes do you use and how much boost do you see?
Im running a 7,65/3,7" pulley setup (17psi at 6500rpm) on oure pumpgas 8.5comp 383...
Can you spec a little more info, like comp, timing (wot), heads, cam etc
Thanks
ake
rskrause 06-22-2005, 08:34 PM Those runs are made with a 2/1 pulley ratio, can't recall the exact size. For testing, I removed the intake piping and in that configuration it sees 21-22psi. With the intake installed it drops to ~17psi. The motor is a 10 over 3.75" stroke "383". Fairly radically ported AFR 195's. 7.8:1 CR. Water injection.

Owens Racing™ 06-22-2005, 10:01 PM Vortech sucks? My ass douche bag! They make the most reliable best fitting kits on the market.
Most likely YOU miss placed the damn pulley. NO way you make a mistake? Quick to blame Vortech and them say they suck. You suck get an import and be the fag you are jerk off!
I have been dealing with Vortech's for over eleven years and never once had a problem with them.
Sorry to be so harsh but the guys at Vortech have bent over backwards for us in the past. We had the FIRST 4 Valve kit out, Saleen was at the race and we asked him if he got his yet he said they are not out, so we asked them to come by and check out what we got! He was pissed but when you sell tons of units and give them the respect they deserve they give it back, they are not about kissing the big names asses.
done ranting! you hit a nerve pal
BCAUTOSOUND 06-22-2005, 10:08 PM HEY BUD,
I realize people make mistakes. However, not putting the tensioner in the box was a mistake. Not sending it out the first time you said you would was horrible. Not sending it unil the third time is unexcusable. I own several retail car audio stores and if I screwed something up four times I would expect someone to bitch and talk bad about me. I don't care how good you product is if you can't treat a guy on the phone who just spent four grand like he is just being impatiant. Hell ya I'm impatiant if I wasn't impatiant I would have waited the two weeks to get the ATI kit I really wanted.

Why not? There are small block Chevys that turn a lot more than that.. Though I did settle on a bit different setup.

OK, gotta to book a dyno time now, did you have any troubles widh wheelspin on the dyno?
Was the 800+ widhout intake piping? if so, how much widh it on?
Thanks

I ran mine up to 7200 on the dyno with a hydraulic roller and no rev kit. . . didn't make 800 hp though. . . Hp peaked at 6500 and dropped about 25 at 7200.

Yep, those runs were with an open inlet. Even with my custom hard intake pipe it drops ~5psi and 50-60rwhp with the inlet and air filter. No wheelspin issues in high gear, never tried it in the lower hears.
