okay - bought two 275-40-18 nitto 555's of chris at Discount Tire Direct about month and half ago. well put about 1k on the tires and this sunday i was going through drivethrough at mcdonalds and rear tire went up on curb... when it came down it started losing air bad...

pulled tire off and got spare on - when i went to have tire taken off rim to see what was wrong i found tire had split 3/4" on what looks like seam?

now - i know they are 18's and i did ride up a curb but should the tire have split like the pics show? if so i guess i deserve it and will be calling chris up for another- if not should i be contacting nitto about possible replacement?

Im not trying to put blame off myself just wondering if it may have been a flaw in tire..

sounds/looks like you just pinched the sidewall
call up chris and see what kinda road hazard warranty is on the tire.
that stuff is the downside to internet tire purchases..warranty work

 

ya thats what i figured- just a bit late to be calling ill give him a call in the morning - i was just curious as to wether it should have broke so easily.

 

No it shouldn't have cracked so easy. I've heard of it happening befor and they ended up getting their tires replaced.

 

You will have to pay for a new tire. No warranty on what happened to the tire. You are just SOL.

 

Very obviously caused by curbing the tire. No warranty on that.

Discount Tire Direct does offer a road hazard warranty which covers against this sort of thing.

 

Just gave Chris a call and he saved my ***..

I highly reccomend anyone looking for tires/rims to do business with them and to pay the extra and get the warranty they offer.

Looks like ill have a new rear tire in a few days

Dont all the tires discount sells come with a 90 day road hazard warranty?

 

the stores yes. i wasnt too familiar with coming from direct

you get the free lifetime prorated warranty or the optional free replacement cert

either way, if the damage occurs within the 1st 90 days of sale, automatically replaced free and the warrany carries over to the new tire

 

Not all of us were wrong..... That is why I buy all my tires from your stores. GREAT customer service will keep me coming back all the time.
