LOL, this may be pretty dumb, but I've been wondering about this. Just got my car not too long ago, so I'm still learning crap about it....

How can I tell if my '94 Z has catback exhaust or just the mufflers?

When I bought it it already had Flowmasters on it, but I'm not sure how to tell if it's catback or mufflers. What should it look like under there if it's catback?

LOL, hope someone can help me on this, and don't make fun of me too much. :D

Alright, I got that part, but say I go out to my car and look underneath.....how can I tell that my exhaust system is from the catback or just the mufflers?

Say I know nothing about this stuff and I'm looking under the car. What am I looking for?

A catback exhaust is any exhaust that has a catalytic converter on it. The CATback part is from the CATalytic converter back to the tailpipes, which includes the pipes, mufflers, and exhaust tips. Look under the car at about the back of the motor or front of the transmission for the cats (catalytic converter) and then the rest of the exhaust from them to the back of the car is the catback system. ;)

I think he wants to know if his catback is stock pipes with aftermarket mufflers or if someone replaced the whole catback with an aftermarket unit. Look at the welds at the muffler for one clue, usually the welds are much cleaner from the companies that make catbacks than the welds from a local muffler shop, measure the pipe in the catback (stock size is 2.75 inches) and finally look at the bends in the pipe, stock pipes have crimped bends that will have little ridges on the inside radius of the bends and aftermarket catbacks have mandrel bends which are smooth.
