So I lost to a Neon...

It was a short little go from about 75, and we didn't go for long. Maybe up to 105. But he jumped out first and I was at his door and I couldn't get any closer to him at all. Pretty sad day.

I don't think his SRT4 was all that stock. He was alone in his car with all 4 DVD players on, and he had a nice exhaust. So im convincing myself that he must have had the boost turned up too. I feel better thinking that way.

Dont feel too bad, those things are pretty quick right off the showroom floor..You mighta had more of a chance from a stop though, man. I've raced a stage 2 SRT and he didnt catch me til i kicked into overdrive..I didnt beat him by much tho. My 96 was all stock too, besides a Cutout

Sounds like you beat the driver. A Stage 2 SRT-4 is good for low 13s with a decent driver. A stock LT1 is nowhere near that fast.

As he slowed down after passing us, I told my girlfreind "Damn, those cars are pretty quick I hope he doesn't want to play" And he did...

I ran a slightly modded srt4 that was " unbeatable" and drove over an hour to race me. He lost.

Yeah, I considered racing an SRT-4 one time, but then I decided it was a huge waste of gas.

Now that you mention it, yeah there are a few cars. And I'm pretty sure they have more than 4 cylinders.

There are numerous 4 bangers that would wipe the floor with your car as it sits...or even when you build your supposed turbo monster. Here is only one example...a 140+mph AWD DSM.

Re: So I lost to a Neon...

the guy probebly had turbo's and nos and everything in that little crapper dodge. See the only two little cars i accept as "cars" are the cavalier and the new chevy cobalt, especially the SS cobalt puttin out 205hp from a 4cylinder, not bad.

Re: So I lost to a Neon...

what about the mitsubishi 4G63, it has been putting out more than 200hp for more than 10 years now, which currently it is up to what 280 stock???? How about the honda s2000 engine, which puts out like 240 N/A. The cobalt SS engine has yet to do anything new for a four cylinder except come factory supercharged and I'm not even 100% on that one.

Re: So I lost to a Neon...

Huh, thats funny beanboy, cause the last time I looked in my garage, it wasn't at a STOCK 96 Z-28!! And big red, there will be FEW rice burners(probably closer to zero) that will touch my car after the turbo and motor install are done hear in the next couple of months. And remember this car was supercharged before. Oh, maybe some $70,000 rice rocket might beat me at a street race, but thats after its rolled of its cute little trailer. And he wont even be able to take anyone for a ride due to a stipped interior and no back seats. I will be building a full weight street car w/ A/C no less, that WILL run 9's. Last time I checked there weren't ANY SRT-4's doin that I have a good idea, seeing how much alot of you love 4 bangers, you should see if you can get a group discount for TURBO magazine, that way you can see all the FAST rice rockets onece a month!
