A question for anyone whos taken off vinyl stripes before

Im looking at taking them off myself, but I need to know a few things. First, I kinda peeled the corner up of one of the pinstripes and I can see its gonna leave behind some kinda sticky material. How can I get that off? Also, do I need a heat source, like a heat gun? Thanks!

I just pulled off my pinstripes on the Z when I bought it. They were new enough that nothing was left behind.

On the Ranger, I pulled off some that were several years old, goo gone took off the residue but the fading of the paint is visible compared to what was covered by the stripes.

Didn't need a heat source for either one. If you do use heat, use extreme caution!! You can bubble the paint if you get too close.

Good luck,
Lori

I removed the stripes off my SS (in favor for a different style) after they were on there more than a year. Most of the adhesive came up but some residual was left behind. I used Goof Off to remove this residual adhesive. Pretty much any "bumper sticker remover" type product will work for ya. The key is to make sure you do this in the SHADE and on a COOL to the touch surface. You do want want to be putting these adhesive removers on your paint in the middle of the day in the sun when you could cook an egg on it

Ok guys, thanks for the tips. Im sorry but I left out one detail though. Im in San Antonio, TX. Needless to say, it gets HOT! These stripes have been on for a couple of years. Ya'll think there will be fading? If so, can a paint shop blend the colors or something?

Ok man I live in Texas too and I used to work at a body shop. Here is what I suggest. Pull the stickers off, wipe off with lacquer thinner and run it in a circular motion then go back across with 3M hand glaze and there will be no residue or fading. A lot of people think lacquer will tear it up but in very small amounts it will not. Dont let it just sit on the paint either though. Just do like a foot or 18" section at a time,* also do it in the shade**!! HAHA good luck bro
