Just wanted to let you know that I have decided to go full speed ahead with an HID conversion for the T/A WITHOUT using projectors.
Using Delphi ballasts with Phillips bulbs that I have modified to hopefully provide a good beam pattern in a stock 4703 housing. I removed the old bulb from the Sylvania sealed beam headlight with a torch and a razor blade (gives you access to a screw that simply pops the bulb itself loose). Then using a tapered drill bit, slowly made the hole large enough for the HID bulb to sit in.
While bench testing, I used a ball peen hammer to gently mod the housing in order to get the bulb 100% straight inside there. Then I used aluminum to create covers for the bulbs in sections that were causing glare due to the beam pattern in the lens. A little epoxy to glue it in and RTV around the edges.
Haven't gotten it wired in the car yet...but if the first one works, I will do a full write up on it with pictures. Total cost? about 330 bucks with everything.
