'06 Corvette Z06 Goes 0 to 60 in UNDER 3.7 Seconds!!

Apparently they (MT) has gotten the buzz from some GM engineers that they have tested the Z06 below 3.7 sec. to 60, but they didn't state how much lower :confused: :rolleyes:

I just can't wait to see the magazine comparisons of the '06 C6 against all the high priced exotics. It's going to stand up very well, or even embarass a good deal of them with the "old" pushrod design.

Like the c6, they'll be blown away that its "14th century suspension" (direct quote from c6 test) can take a simple 90* corner at moderate speeds :rolleyes:.

Yeah, I was going to mention Top Gear, but I'm so tired of their crap. I love their reviews for the humor, but I don't get their bashing of the C6, especially when you consider the price! It's like they expect it to have the interior and fit and finish of a $500k sportscar for $45k. Weird.

They are overly critical of the Vette, but if you think they are hard on the Vette, you should see what they say about the Viper. I believe the guy testing the car said the Viper was "Absolute Rubbish." I'll try to find a link to the C6 vs. Viper comparison.

At least at the end of all their bashing they had to eat their words when the C6 pulled off one of their best times on that road course they run.\

You and me both. I read the MT test of the Ferrarri 430 vs. the Ford GT on a plane trip last week and the Z06 has a better power-weight ratio than either of them. I think it stands a real chance of knocking BOTH cars out.

Too bad there are ZERO corvette videos in there. :(

I would but...I can never find an actualy dyno sheet of a Ford GT. I've seen all the net rumors etc...that say the things put out like 525-540 or so to the wheels which would put the whole power to weight thing to rest fairly harshly but with no solid proof...no point in saying it.

Also since we don't have a dyno sheet for a Z06 yet...same thing.

I agree that you can't do it now (especially given that the Z06 doesn't exist in production form). I was just stating that when you can, it will be more accurate. That's all. :)

I watched that show too, but I'm not sure they tested it to 3.3 seconds. I'm trying to remember how they worded it, but it didn't sound like they were the one's who got the 3.3 sec 0-60 time. Too bad I already deleted it off the TIVO.

I could be wrong though. I still haven't seen documented proof of a 3.3 0-60 time.

Just played it back and they exactly say

"sure it'll do burnsouts to till the tires disintegrate, but it can also make a rocketing run to 60. Just 3.3 seconds.. and you can get to 150 in less than 17."

EDIT: what they couldn't test was top speed.. they backed off at 170.

Even if the Ford GT does 0-60 in 3.3, it's still $250K to get one.

For that money, you can get THREE C6 Z06s with money to spare. :)
