Need a shop to rebuild my T56

I've purchased all the parts for the rebuild on a T56 transmission and I also have a spec stage 3 clutch and aluminium flywheel to be installed. I have callled around to several shops and people are asking around a 1000 bucks for just the labor. I personally think this is a ridiculous amount for a ten hour job tops. Does anyone know of a shop that might be a little bit more reasonable or am I being unreasonable thinking that that is way too much?

If you don't mind the drive, Harrell & Beverly in Sanford are great. I had my trans. worked on there when a seal went bad.

The easiest way to get there is to take S.R. 44 in from Brevard County into Seminole County and they'll be on the left side of the road when you're in Sanford just before you hit 17-92. They have a yellow and black sign. I think their number is 407-321-8400.

SR44 goes further North. SR46 goes through Sanford.

Oops!

I meant to say S.R. 46, I don't know why I put 44.

The labor for R&R and overhaul should be in the $650-750 area. Plus any sealer, fluids, parts forgot or missed. Hope this helps.

$1000 just for labor? The last two times I had my M6 tranny rebuilt, the labor was right around $300, plus whatever parts it needed. I didn't replace the clutch at the same time - but if you're already in there I don't see where that extra $700 is going

Jim,

I doubt it was $300 for the R&R and the trans overhaul. If so, they are pretty much doing it for free if it is a real shop and not a backyard repair. It is usually that much for each. Correct me if I am wrong.

I just spoke with Jake. He said $250 to rebuild the tranny if it's out of the car. $450 if they have to drop it themselves. Maybe an extra ~$100 to replace clutch, turn flywheel, etc. Few days lead time.

That sounds more like it :)
