Everytime I insert any CD into the Stock head unit it sits there for a few seconds then spits the CD out displaying "E20" . Has anyone run into this before? If so did you find anyway to fix it short of replacing the head unit? This is out of a 98 Formula.

If there's one thing we've all learned here it's that the stock HU is not only a POS that sounds like crap, it also isn't very reliable and doesn't last very long before it starts to act up and die a slow death. Yank it and replace it with a quality after-market HU. Or you can learn to deal with it and replace it with another POS stock HU and go thru the same damn thing in about a year or so.

Well I'd love to replace it and do plan on it. But getting layed off kinda puts a hold on spending any money. So I'd like to get the stocker working again.

Like stated above it sound like it history. Unfortunatly the only way you are going to get it fixed is if your car is still under warranty. You can try a laser cleaner but usually that error means it's a paper weight.

I've got the Monsoon as well in my Firebird. Will any aftermarket stereo's work with the buttons on the steering wheel? I'd like to keep them :p Also, are those buttons supposed to be lighted up?
Thanks,
Dave

See the "How do I keep my steering wheel controls working?" thread.
Yes, the buttons should be lit.
