I am looking into getting a diamond audio tdx 12" sub. I currently have one jl 12w6v2 running off about 411 watts. how much of a difference will there be in the amount of spl that i am getting now to the amount of spl the diamond will produce?

Are you getting a bigger amp or anything? If not I would stick with the set up you got, cuz there will be no real noticeable difference (if any) in SPL. There are three ways to get a noticeable difference in SPL. First would be to go with a custom ported box, if built right you will get up to a 3db gain. Second would be to double your power (wouldn't recommend with that sub) and you will get a 3db gain. Last would be to add another sub, which will get you a 3db gain as well.

I will be getting a kenwood amp that runs 900 rms at 1 and 2 ohms. Thats more than double the wattage going to the w6v2.

Go with the Diamond. Not only will it handle more power, but it's got an efficiency rating of 91db. The JL has a lower power handling, and also a much lower efficiency rating of 85.9db.

The lower the efficiency rating, the more power it takes to get to a certain spl. If your driver is more efficient, the less power it will take.

Diamond, hands down.
