PAC SWI-X Transmitter Placement?

I'm about to install a whole new stereo system including the PAC SWI-X for steering wheel controls. While looking at the manual it says that I should run the transmitter to a place where it will have direct line of sight with the reciever. Im thinking of running the wire under the carpet and out underneath the driver's seat and placing the transmitter between the seat and the center console where it will be hidden from view, but still have line of site to the HU. It seems like there has to be a better way. Where did you guys install yours. Pics?

I had mine in the cup holder of the center console. I've since moved it here (http://pic5.picturetrail.com/VOL83/511092/1451838/94651460.jpg) and it works much better than when it was in the cup holder.

Looks nice, I may just give that a try.
