any1 replaced hatch stabilizer bars???iCE 05-23-2005, 10:58 PM ready to replace my stabilizer bars in the hatch area. what tools do i need and what all needs to come off???? 99blackSS 05-24-2005, 12:44 AM They come off using torx bits. Think its a T45 one on each side behind the passenger seat. The part up top come off by prying something under the metal clamp part. 87DJP2001 05-24-2005, 08:35 AM Make sure you support that hatch before disconnecting anything. Two hundred plus pounds of hatch falling on you is gone to hurt. MRBoss429x 05-24-2005, 09:59 AM Where did you get the bars? 87DJP2001 05-24-2005, 10:10 AM Where did you get the bars? Not bars-Gas Charged Hatch STRUTS. Available at all good Auto Parts stores. firehawkformula 05-24-2005, 11:56 AM Make sure you support that hatch before disconnecting anything. Two hundred plus pounds of hatch falling on you is gone to hurt. Everytime I changed the shocks I always held the hatch with my knee. prolly woulda been easier if I had a prop tho, the easy stuff is for nancy boys :p iCE 05-24-2005, 01:54 PM I purchased mine at my local chevy dealership in the parts department. hmmmm i wonder what size "star" bit I will need to take off those 2 metal thingies that the back seat clips on to ........any1 know??? 99blackSS 05-24-2005, 04:26 PM If you mean the part the seat latches to so you can fold it down when you unlatch it... that part doesn't need to come out. I just checked and the torx screws that do need to come out take a T50 and so do the bolts that the passenger seat latches to if you still want to take those out. iCE 05-26-2005, 01:19 PM cool, ya ur right it was ez. i was makin it harder then it shoulda been. only took me 10 min. once i really looked at it. geeez that hatch is HEAVY..... thanks 4 the help | ||
