Ok I have a 1995 Z28 with the factory keyless entry system. I just got the car and noticed that sometimes the remote would work and sometimes it wouldnt.
So yesterday I decided to try and figure out why. I pulled the panels off the underside of the dash below the steering column and found an aftermarket alarm system horribly wired into the wiring harness of the car. I mean it was a piss pore job that had bare wire ends exposed and all. Anyways I started unhooking it and putting the wires that were cut back together in there obvious places.
But now I have 2 wires that I cant figure out were they go and they will only reach so far but nothing to attach them to. I am stumped on this one and my factory remote wont work at all anymore to lock,unlock or pop the hatch. It worked yesterday morning before I started. Ive got a feeling that these 2 wires are the cause of why its not working. One is a purple wire and the other is green and they disappear into the drivers kick panel then change colors somewhere in the boot that goes to the door cause no wires their color inside the door. I know these 2 wires are for the locking system because I wrapped the ends around a volts meter and got no power readings to them until I hit the lock buttons on the doors then they showed power to them only when pushing the lock buttons. The lock buttons on the doors still work, just the remote has stopped working now.
Can anyone help me with this, provide me with pics of your wiring systems under your dashes, a wiring diagram of the factory keyless entry system, anything. I need to get this back together today so I can drive it tomorrow.
