Hey people, what's going on? I have a question hopefully someone can answer.

I have a Sony Xplod, I believe, CDMX600 head unit in my '93 Z28. I have not had an antenna in the car for about 8 months already and I can't get a few stations, but the main stations I have always got. Now I get all the stations whenever the weather is semi-warm or cold, but it seems that when it's hot, i lose EVERY station. The station comes on for 2 secs. then goes out in static.

What can the problem be?? Am I due for a new head unit??? Can the problem be fixed???

I don't think it's the lack of an antenna due to the fact that nearly all my FM stations have always worked without it. But now my ALL my stations go out when its hot. I don't know what's wrong. Please someone help.

Heat is electronics worst enemy. Heat, water and dust. Chances are the cooling isn't up to par on the unit, and the board isn't performing due to it. Know how your computer slows down when it's hot? Same principle. I doubt the unit is bad, it's not being cooled well enough.

Well, its just that for more than 4 yrs, through all 4 seasons, very hot and very cold, the head unit, never had this problem. Now its doing it, and more often than even the last time I posted. I'm just wondering.
