33,000 actual miles. Bought it 2 months ago. Put 500+ trouble free miles on it. Had a pinion seal put in and was returning home and noticed it would "bog" on acceleration. Didn't think much of it. The fellow that installed the seal mentioned his group was having a mall show and asked if I would put my car in it. On the way over to the mall last evening the car killed at a stoplight and from then on would not idle. It's an auto so it was difficult getting the last couple miles to the mall. It runs perfectly at 2K rpm's and above. It sounds like it's loading up at anything below that. Pumping the gas causes it to flood so I don't think it's gas related but I suppose it could be. Everything under the hood is original to the car. Plugs, wires, etc. The car is buried in a mall and I have to have it out Sunday evening. I am hoping to change whatever the problem is so I can drive it out.

So... Runs fine over 2K rpm. Started as a bog on acceleration from stop. Runs rough under 2K and the lower the RPM the harder it is to keep running. Will not run at all without the throttle open. All components are original. bdcongdon@citlink.net Thank you

When did this bog occur? Was it after the seal was replaced?

Visit www.NastyZ28.com. I'm also a member there which is a great site for 2nd gen Camaros. Lots or tech info and bunch of great guys on their that know their stuff regarding the 2nd gen.

Once you become a member you can post your question in the forum http://www.nastyz28.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro. I suggest posting in the trouble shooting section.

I am sure the pinion seal had nothing to do with it. After some research I believe it may by the idle circuit in the carb. The thought is to run the rpm's to 3K in neutral and then cover the carb, in effect choking the engine. This may create enough vacuum to pull whatever may be obstructing the idle "jets".

Anyway it probably won't happen in the mall as this may be a little too much for the mall. I was hoping to fix it in the mall if it was something easy like a PCV or something. Have to push it out. If the choking idea doesn't work it goes to see the doctor Monday A.M.

Thanks

Then you may have some trash in the carb. You might get away with flushing the venturies with carb cleaner (do this while the car is running). If this works and you have the orginal quadrajet carb, check the fuel filter for replacement. Also check to make sure you don't have any hoses/ plugs loose on the carb, intake, advance or tranny line (auto tran)

Sounds like an idle circut problem to me. Imo pull the carb and put on another one. If it runs better either leave it alone or by yourself a rebuild kit.
