Anyone see the SSR commercial?

I don't know if its been out for a while but I saw it last night. THey show like a bunch of musicians singing famous songs and the last one is Prince singing "Little Red Corvette". He sings the chorus to the song then you hear a voice say "Artists like these need big motivation" or something like that, "Chevrolet we'll be there" And they show a Bright red SSR sitting in the alleyway. They only show the truck for like 2 seconds. I honestly thought it was a commercial for the 20th anniversary Trivial Pursuit. I was waiting to hear "The people that shape a generation".

I like the commercial theme of using famous somgs... good marketing move.

I am totally, and utterly confused as to why they put a red SSR in a commercial singing Little Red Corvette ... how about putting a RED CORVETTE in it?!?!

Being a 'car guy' among my family and friends, I have had FOUR people ask me if I saw the new CORVETTE in that commercial, and they asked why it was so wierd looking.

The whole point of the commercial is that the Chevy's of the past have inspired music artists over the generations. There are 3 or 4 different songs in the commercial while different Chevy's over the years are shown. They are asking what kind of song the SSR might inspire as the Corvette inspired Little Red Corvette. Could have sworn the SSR in that commercial was yellow, also.

I don't really find it confusing at all, but it just goes to show that a lot of people don't pay much attention to commercials. I can't believe that someone who is a Corvette enthusiast wouldn't know what the SSR is, and it does in fact say SSR is coming at the end of the commercial. I see your point though - if they average person doesn't get it the commercial can't really be viewed as successful.

Ya, if this is confusing supposed enthusiasts, who actually log onto Corvette websites, imagine what the general public is thinking...

Anyone seen that new Monte SS commercial? The one with the black SS and the guy trying to spill his friends drink by hitting the brakes at the stop light? It has that rap song playing in the background with the phrase "in a black ss with the navigation".
Yeah that commercial cracked me up. I guess I'm easily amused but I think Chevy is trying to market this car to the younger crowd. They even said something in the commercial about staying younger, or never growing up or something like that. Funny thing is i was talking to a buddy of mine in the dorm yesterday who has like no concept of cars, and he just started talking about how cool the Monte ss is. Ok once again I have clue where my post is going, I ramble too much, but anyway cool commercial.

I agree with you Xed. If they're going to play Little Red Corvette, show a red Corvette. If you're going to show the SSR play some Queen or something.

If you consider OnStar's navigation capabilities (admittedly different than having an onboard, dvd based nav system) the Monte SS kind of has navigation so it's only a half truth.

I knew you'd chime in on that, Darth.

It's amazing how a well done commercial can make a car seem cool. Monte's been out for a few years now, and it's hitting a new awareness because of 1 commercial (can only imagine what it may have doen for Camaro....along with a modest restyling).

Back to the question, I think they could have picked a better song for SSR. It's a great commercial, but there are going to be people who'll get confused. But then again, they probally won't be the ones buying SSR.. or Corvette for that matter.
