Need Recomendations on Equipment

I have a Pioneer 50x4 head unit currently and was wondering what would be 4 good high quality 6.5 inch speakers I could get for a reasonable price or maybe even just two fronts. I also would like to know a good 4, 6, etc or however many channel amp I need to run the 4 6.5 inch speakers and 2 12's. Also what is a good brand of enexpensive 12's. I also dont need a super bumping system either, I have a single 10 and its fine for me now I just want a much "cleaner" sound. Thanks, Brad

How much do you want to spend for everything? Remember that you will need a box for those 12"s. ( www.subthump.com ) What amp doing you have powering your sub now? Planning on using that for your new subs? Or do you need a new one of those too?

I have a single like 100 watt MTX Amp. Its the amp thats comes with the Thunderform kit for f bodies, and I have a single pioneer 10 now. I have 2 earthquake 12's that are sitting around I am gonna use. I now need a 6 ch amp. I was looking at some Alpine Type R's I beleive component speakers in a 6.5 inch size. Will those fit in my 4th gen bird door panels and would the tweeter fit where the stock one is mounted? I am just looking for a really inexpensive 6 ch amp to power the 4 6.5 speakers and send a decent amount of power to the 12's, because like I said I am pretty happy with the single 10 I just want a little bit more bass so it can be heard outside the car some.

How much power you looking to give those 12"s? With a 5 or 6 channel amp, you're not going to get more then maybe 300WRMS for the pair. And that's tops. If that's enough, go to Ebay and click on "buy" and then "Car Electronics" then "Amps", then sort by name "Hifonics" & "Multichannel". That should give you all their 4 and 5 channel amps. Snag one of the 5-channeler's and be on your way. Great buy for the money. If you need more power then that, you'll have to buy two seperate amps. A 4-channel for the four 6 1/2"s and a second mono amp for the subs. (or 2-channel running in bridged mode)

When talking about audio, you do not want to go cheap, just to save 100 bucks. First off, do not go with Alpine Type R speakers. Their subs and amps are good, but speakers are not.

6 3/4" speakers - Infinity Kappa 652.5i ($82 per pair) You will want 2 pair so the cost of all four speakers will be ($164)

Amp to Power Speakers - Alpine MRV F345 4 channel amp (75 watts RMS X 4). Price on the Amp is $284.

Sub Woofers - Alpine SWS-1222D ($196 for a pair)

Sub Amp - Alpine MRD M605 ($288)

Amp wiring and speaker wiring - $75

You would Wire The subs so each one is at a 4 ohm load, then take a positive lead from one sub and connect it to the negative on the other sub to creat a 2 ohm load. then you would take the other positive and negative connections and hook them up to the Amp.

So for about $1000 you could have a system that sounds freakin awesome. normally if you would take your car to a local audio shop and have the same stuff done to it, it would cost you probably double that.

I have the Hifonics ZX8000 Zeus 5-channel amp and I really like it. Saves from having to run two sets of power wires through the car. I run 4 Infinity 6.5" speakers and a 10" JL Audio 10w4 in a custom JL Audio ported box.

Go with the Type R components, they are much better then 2, 3 or 4 way speakers. I would not worry about putting any speakers in the rear, a good front stage is all you will need. Get a 2 channel amp for the speakers up front that will power them properly. They Type R subs are a very well rounded sub, they are alittle power hungry. If you get one I would suggest running 400-600WRMS to it.

If your gonna run two 12's, i would stay away from 5 and 6 channel amps. Get a 4 channel for the coaxils, and a mono or 2 channel for the subs. That way your subs wont starve for power.

You dont have to run 2 sets of wires from the battery, just use a fuse block splitter. I run a 2 gauge from the battery into the trunk and split it with a fuse box to one 4 gauge and one 8 gauge wire.
