Re: The Hummer H3 enters a RENTAL FLEET!!!!!!
Rental companies often have a few high-profile vehicles in their fleet as a means of drawing awareness and promoting themeselves. That's why it was put out on a news release like that. It does not mean GM is worried about sales targets and is looking to dump a bunch of trucks to maintain line rates, because of course they're not even for sale to the public yet.
Re: The Hummer H3 enters a RENTAL FLEET!!!!!!
very simple...it's called 'putting butts in seats' to expose the product.....
They aren't even out yet, so it's not like we're dumping them in the rental fleets.
I personally didn't want to put a lot of Camaros in the rental fleets for two reasons:
>with exception of Enterprise, most manufacturers 'guarantee' a repurchase price.......
>Camaros (and Mustangs) tend to get the heck flogged out of them....and after so many miles, I think it shows...therefore, a bad reflection on the brand.
...just the way I see it.

That's just unethical and stuff.
Heathens.
People nowadays, I tell ya...
Re: The Hummer H3 enters a RENTAL FLEET!!!!!!
Not to mention, people can base their opinion on a car and car line from their rental experience.
Putting people in a 6 cyl. Camaro doesn't reflect the true experience.
That is a problem with rental fleets. You get into base model, underpowered junkers, and say, I would NEVER buy one of these things.

Re: The Hummer H3 enters a RENTAL FLEET!!!!!!
To answer your question Red, this has nothing to do with "sign's of things to come for Hummer."
Its just an easy way to sell a few trucks. Gather exposure for the Hummer line of trucks. Give those big spending travelers another way to rank themselves among the 'rest' of us.
If you and I travel to the same place and you make ten times what I do, do you want to leave the Hertz lot in a clone to the Olds Alero that im driving?? Of course not! You want a classy Lincoln, or a big Hummer or Suburban!

I'm not sure if there was enough Mustang left for the next guy.

I have fond memories of topping the car out at just over 120 and having some Italian guy in a 5-series flashing his lights and giving me "hand jestures" because I was holding him up (I was trying to get out of his way the whole time, but I couldn't go any faster!)
